Great time avoiding F1 racing

Saturday, November 06, 2010

It's nice and sunny here today and the bus to Uxbridge was full of chatty good humoured people for a change!
I love earwigging other people's conversations. It's another version of people watching which I do whenever I stop for lunch out- can be very educational/entertaining.
One girl, it seems was all ready to float down the aisle only to have discovered her fella in bed with her best mate on the day she was finalizing the reception arrangements at the groom's home. An old dear turned to her and told her she was far too good for him and said how she hoped she'd kneed him in the meat an two veg.....I'll leave you to decipher emoticon emoticon
The whole bus burst out laughing and applauding emoticon emoticon emoticon

I bought my self a lippy (lipstick) to use up a Boots voucher b4 it expires 2moro and topped up my Oyster travel card and battled through the crowd, popping into every clothes shop in turn and examining the costume jewellery hanging, stopping at all the "gift idea" counters for some inspiration emoticon emoticon

I think I've figured out most of the Christmas prezzies but haven't bought them as yet......just in case I spot something else my next trip, but at least I have all bases covered now. The little grey cells will retain what item is in what shop... I hope emoticon til I go again. And I've seen some very unusual cards I'll get for Pete, Jackie and John and Vicki.

And eureka! I found them! A pair of purple cord bootleg-cut jeans! I have been looking since last November!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYWHERE! NADA!

Just happened to make a trip into Debenhams, not actually looking for them you understand, and there they were, calling to me. Well......... they had to be bought didn't they emoticon
And the waist was slightly loose so I HAD to get a belt didn't I emoticon
Did another circuit then double backed as I remembered seeing some nice belts in Peacocks. Purple leather one with an ornate black buckle £6! marked down to £3 for a sale. Sorted emoticon

Had a nice lunch in M&S café "people watching", bought Pete some chocolate ginger in Thornton's Chocolatiers, paid a visit to the rest room (being polite here for a change) and got the bus home..........................
..

Only to find F1 was STILL ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon
So I'm now blogging with Robbie on my headset to block it out emoticon having tucked into a couple of crumpets emoticon emoticon
So much for avoiding the racing emoticon at least I got a lot of walking in emoticon

I can so relate to trying to make sure the boots vouchers get used on time! I am saving my Boots points for a perfume fix in the new year. (Nearly there) That way if I get the perfume that I love as a present I can save the points for a bit longer and get a BIG bottle of perfume.
Where abouts are you in the UK. I am currently living in Somerset but used to live in Farnham , Surrey for over 25 years.
I am with you entirely on the F 1 on TV. - It didn't help having Rugby scheduled on both BBC 1 and 2.
Keep up the wonderfully insightful blogs.

Thanks to being an anglophile I understood the entire first paragraph! LOL Congrats on the shopping. I, too, am very sorry you couldn't avoid the racing. However, F1 is better than NASCAR for sure!

Sounds like you made out well shopping today!
I had a bit of retail therapy myself- found a 40% off everything in the store sale.
Also, did some damage at a children's clothing shop. emoticon
'kneed him in the meat an two veg'
hahahahaha! emoticon

I love reading your blogs. Your language is so much more interesting and colorful than our poor example of English. One of these days I've got to make it "across the pond". And of course, congrats on finding the pants and the belt sounds absolutely perfect! Enjoy them!!

Wow Christmas hunting already. Probably a good idea since it really isn't all that far off. I should really get on that and find some nice unique gifts.

Reading about your shopping trip was almost as good as going with you! I love purple as well and recently bought a purple "fascinator"....little hat for my next drama role.

I love, love, love it when you write a blog! It makes me realize I know very little English, so I better pay attention! You have a way of saying things ... emoticon

Glad you found the perfect cords ... love the color. and of course you had to have the belt ... you wouldn't want to be caught walking down the street and losing your jeans ... emoticon ... that would embarrass DH, so you did it for him!

I love earwigging other people's conversations too, although I never used that expression before, I am now!

Sorry to hear F1 was still on when you got home. Next time, you will just have to shop longer!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh yeah, what's the weather like in February in London. I think I want to tell DH I want a quick trip there for my birthday. It will be incredibly cold here and I know it won't be there ... just wondering! We were there once at the beginning of the year I think and went to a great orchid show ... but I don't remember where or exactly when, although I do know it was in London. I'd love to see it again!

Since I am not a racing fan, it took me awhile to know what F1 was. And I come from the state of Indiana in the USA. My son lives in Indianapolis, home of the Indy 500. Duh, had a senior moment. I some times eavesdrop and I laugh to myself with what I overhear at times. Have a good day.

Got to love old ladies comments - my Nan used to call "it" chip & pickles emoticon She'd be well over 100 now but the things sher used to say would bring tears.
Sounds like you had a good day despite the F1.

Hey Caz...I love listening to other conversations too! I'd rather do that than read a book when I'm flying or at the beach or pool:) Sounds like you had a fun shopping day:) I love shopping too. Last time, I was at a sports wear store, I found two pretty dresses. One casual and one nicer. I almost got them. I am not even a dress person, but they did look comfy. When I get the chance again...I'll probably get them and at least try them on. Who knows, maybe they will be on sale.

I have most of my gifts figured out for everyone. I even have all but one card filled out and addressed way ahead of time:) I'd much rather be early than late with everything!

It's nice and sunny here too, but chilly and breezy. Still way better than up North and it'll be nice and warm again on Monday:) Have a great!!
