Trying to get motivated

Friday, October 29, 2010

I fell off the diet wagon again, so I'm trying to get motivated again. I've written two goals on my mirror in erasable pen for the week. I also added them to my other goals here. One is related to my diet, the other exercise. This week's goals are to not drink any soda at work (I get unlimited free soda) and to use my weighted hula hoop for 15 min a day. I'm hoping by doing this they will become lifestyle changes.

Once I get a week or two into my routine, I'm going to start telling my boyfriend about my goals for the week and ask him to help keep me accountable. He asked about how my diet was going yesterday, having figured out that I stopped exercising again (he lives 160 miles away so he couldn't know for sure). When I said I'd stopped and asked if he knew, he said yes but that dieting is a very private thing so he didn't want to pry. This encouraged me without making me feel bad about stopping for a while, which is why I want him to help me stay accountable after a few weeks.

I hope this time I can stick with this until I meet my goals. I want coworkers, friends, and family to notice the progress I make without telling them what I'm doing because that is big motivation for me. I'm not expecting instant gratification, and need to keep reminding myself to push through on the days I feel like I can't do it.

You can do it! Those are great goals to have and it's so nice that you have a supportive/non-nagging bf to help. Just try to take one day at a time and not get too discouraged if you mess up. Every day is a new day, just start again. You'll see results soon and then all the wolf-whistles and compliments will start flying!!
