Happy Tuesday Everyone welcome back to the long awaited, award not wining blog of the ThinCpl, AKA BikerBoy. A lot of time has passed since I posted on here and I actually have a few things to say! Where to start where to start! Lest start in Aug.
It was a busy, hot morning on that first Saturday in August when it was my turn to complete my departments PT Test. One of my supervisors a couple of months pior to this told me in not so many words that he knew I was going to fail the PT Test. And that I needed to go ahead and schedule a follow up Test. When he told me that, I got silently pissed off at him. And I trained even harder. I wasn'nt going to let him win, no way no how!!! So when that fateful day came around, we started off with the Pushups part of the test which I passed easily. Then came the walk. Normally they make you run your PT Test. But since I got real bad knees I got a waiver so that I could walk the TEST. The Time I had to come under was 32 mins for 2 miles. Each lap came and went the times were shouted out to me and I kept thinking about what my supervisor said, and that made me digg in and keep walking faster and faster. To finally on the last lap my walking buddy a Sgt who was taking the test the same time kept pushing me and I him, COME ON YOU CAN DO IT!! We kept repeating to each other. Then we heard 30 mins 8 sec's, and we had done it! Passed it on the first time out! OOOhhh yeah. The next time I saw my supervisor, not one word, not even "good job" or "I am sorry for doubting you" was said. I proved to him and myself that I could do it!!
And about a month ago I was selected Spark People Motivator of the Day!!! What a thrill to open up a email from Spark and see my page on there! And all of the atta boy and great jobs was very humbling. It was a honor! Thanks Spark!! And then the previous Sunday I got to go to my very first NFL game. I saw the Redskins vs the Colts. And even though my favorite team lost to the Colts I still felt like I won.
And then this past Saturday, I completed in my first Century Bike Tour, which I have been training off and on for the past couple of years. I felt like a novice (Actually I was since this was my first tour) on the road seeing all of these professionals out there. Fancy Bikes and clothes and here I was on my mountain bike the only one on the Tour that had a mountain bike the rest of them had regular road bikes. But due to lack of time to complete the tour I only did 60 miles. If I had a couple of extra hours I could of completed it! So you can scratch another thing off of my bucket list of things I want to do before I go to final rest! So within I month I have crossed 2 things off my bucket list. Awesome!!
Well that is it for now, yak at everyone later gater. Peace Out!
