I've been taking daily walks since mid April. Yup, six months, 2- 5 miles most days.
For way too many years, I've had chronic foot/ankle issues. Custom orthotics since 1992, and so on. Amazingly (not!), as my weight has been dropping, so has the foot pain. It still shows up now and again, but nowhere near as frequently or as severely as before.
Recently, my feet have been tired after our evening walks. Not so bad as to warrant soaking, but I've been aware of them a little more than usual.
Yesterday I got out of bed, walked a few steps, and the pain was so severe that my ankle almost buckled under me. I soaked and iced and got out my shillelagh.
I couldn't even drive. Had my DH drive me to work, and my work buddy wouldn't let me even get up, bless her!
I really had no choice but to skip both the morning and the evening walk. My DH walked the dog, bless him!
I was terrified of breaking my streak, that it might cause me to completely fall off the wagon. I was thrilled to learn that that's not necessarily the case. I woke up with much less pain this morning, and walked about a mile. I was careful and chose a flat route, rather than my beloved hills. But the key point is that I WALKED! I took it easy, but I did it! And I'm looking forward to walking again tomorrow.
I've found that breaking a streak is survivable! I just need to pick up where I left off as soon as I'm able.
Only problem is that I'm not sure if this is a "Woo Hoo" moment, or a "Duh!" moment......... I'll figger it out!!
Thanks for reading my blog!
