Just some random thoughts

Saturday, October 23, 2010

I can't think of anything funny or profound to blog about today, so this is just a few thoughts. Because of my hip getting stiff in the night, I've been going to sleep by 8 or so, then waking up about midnight and being up for a couple of hours, then going back to sleep till about 6:30 or so. Last night I got up a couple of times to go to the bathroom but went back to bed and back to sleep until about 3:15 when I was stiff and sore so made myself some green tea and got on the laptop after moving around for a little, putting theragesic on, etc. My 7 year old granddaughter sleeps with me, along with my lab Abigail so it gets a little crowded on the bed. My granddaughter (Keyana) just joined Girl Scouts and they were having an outing to the Catwalk, a picnic area and trails about an hour from here. Keyana was so excited to be going. I was very sleepy about 5:30 and was just about to fall back asleep when Keyana woke up wanting to know what time it was. They had to meet at 8 so she had lots of time. She wouldn't go back to sleep. So I put cartoons on for her in my room (Her mom and brother were asleep in the living room) and I was about to doze off when she asked me again what time it was. I told her and then settled down and about 10 or 15 minutes later was just drifting off when Abigail suddenly wanted outside. Put her out and went back to bed. Keyana wanted to know what time it was again. That was about 6. About 6:20 I had dozed and she woke me up again wanting to know what time it was. I told her and she said she was going to go take a bath to start getting ready. THat's the last thing I remember until my daughter woke me up about 9 half shouting "Mom" "Mom" at me. I was in a deep sleep. I never sleep that late. She said she had tried to call 3 times because they were short a driver and she wanted to know if I wanted to help with the trip. I didn't since I had just woke up although I love the place. But she was very concerned. I never even heard my phone right next to me. Checked to make sure the ringer was all the way up and it was. She said I scared her because I looked dead when she came in. That's why she was trying to wake me up. Reassured her I was fine and decided definitely time to get up since when I sleep late the day seems like it's half gone. Ate a healthy breakfast, limbered up my leg, and went to the gym. I did 35 minutes on the treadmill with an up and down hill program, 45 minutes of upper body and core strength training, stretching, and some exercises I'm learning in physical therapy, then got in the pool and did 60 minutes of water exercises. Came home ate lunch and have been lazing around the rest of the afternoon.
Granddaughter got back from the field trip at 3 and had a good time. Another of my granddaughters, who will be 12 in January going on 18, was on the same trip and had her cell phone with her (why she even has one I don't know. This is my other daughter's child not the one who lives with me). Well she dropped it in the creek and lost it. I know mama is pretty upset with her right now! I don't even want to hear about it. Why she even had to take the phone, even if she has to have one, I don't know because there is no reception once you get about 10 miles outside of town going that direction. However, not my problem so I ain't gonna worry about it.

So all and all it's been a good day, even if I did oversleep. Tomorrow I promised to take someone to the small town of Deming about am hour a way where they have a K-Mart where we only have a Walmart. Big time shopping there LOL. Then back to work on Monday but the job pays the internet bill and without the internet I wouldn't have SP so I guess I'd better go to work. Of course it also pays for other things such as rent, utilities, food, etc, but internet is a high priority!
Take care and hope everyone is having a great weekend!!! emoticon

I'm with you -- I have no idea why children have to have cell phones. DS told me it's time to get my DGS one -- he's one of the last kids in his class to not have one. 10 yo, 5th grade. Yikes! 8 yo DGD, going on 18, dearly wants one too, but would also probably drop it in the creek if she ever went near one. LOL

Sorry that you didn't get the sleep that you needed. Hopefully you'll be able to get some much needed rest/sleep this weekend. I'm cheering for you. Love, Dawn emoticon

Life happens! If you get disturbed in your sleep that many times, you are bound to oversleep! Take care and enjoy your Sunday! Monday will come soon enough! HUGS!

Ooohhhh.... You have a K-Mart in Deming, the closest anything we have is the Wal-Mart in Espanola. I have to go all the way to Santa Fe for Target.

Hon, I'm thinking you must be suffering from sleep deprivation - and that is a serious thing! An occassional sleepless night is one thing, but if this is your regular schedule, it could be impacting other areas of your health. It must have really scared your daughter when she couldn't wake you. Maybe next time you visit the doctor, you should mention how often you are awake during the night?

Glad everybody had a great time on the field trip... even if they did come back minus one cell phone.
