My plan for moving forward...

Thursday, October 21, 2010

The landlord does not like dishes because he thinks they make the property look messy. I got the approval but with many restrictions. I have been thinking though that I may go ahead and switch to comcast anyways. I don't need as many channels as I have and I also don't need to be chained to the television. I have gone without it for years before and I enjoyed it. It was more peaceful and I got allot more accomplished. I just don't know but I still have time to decide and it is definitely not one of life's harder or more stress filled decisions.

I like the new apartment and really don't want to give the landlord any reason to want me out after my six month lease.

Now for the important part of my blog. I have decided on a plan for moving forward. I am going to go back to school. I am going to finish my degree but switch the focus to business management. I have discovered over the years that this is an area I excel in and that I really enjoy. This could take anywhere from one to two years depending on the way the classes line up. Our community college sometimes does not offer classes needed except during specific quarters and if you need one in order to take another it can be a pain. While I go to school full time I should have more hours in the day in which I can work on me. So I figured out how to set up my new apartment so that I can do circuit training at home. I have so many clothes in way to many different sizes that it took three car loads just to move my clothes. So I have set a time limit on getting into those clothes. After six months anything that doesn't fit goes! I am tired of hauling so many clothes with me that don't fit. And the three car loads was after I threw away about half that and gave away about half that! I also make this vow to never again buy something that doesn't fit now! Over half the stuff I gave away I never wore and some of the stuff I only wore once!

I have found a workout buddy who needs to lose weight and wants to workout and together we are going to motivate each other! I have plenty of workout equipment and so she can work the circuit with me. I also have just about every wii workout game there is so to add variety we can do some of those every other day. It was costing me around $800.00 a month to feed my family of three with healthy vegetables and fresh fruits and produce as well as non pre packaged meals. I can no longer afford to do this so we will have to limit our fresh vegetables and fruits, but I can get frozen veggies and fruits fairly inexpensively so I am going to have to mix in more of those as well as canned veggies. I also am going to half to figure out some cheaper healthier meals that I can fix and work on cutting my food budget. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

After I get my schooling done, I am going to put my resume out there in the world. I am going to focus on areas that I would like to move to. I currently reside in WA state and although I love it, it is not where I want to stay. I would like to go to either the New England area or somewhere in the middle or possibly southern states. I am pretty open so I can also let the job offers help in my decision of where to move. I will be doing it with allot less stuff and definitely fewer clothes and hopefully at least another 50 fewer pounds. No let me rephrase that with at least 50 fewer pounds! I am bring less baggage period end of story.

I don't know whether I will have internet or not but either way I will find a way to keep posting my progress and to keep getting here. I need this site. I need the grounding that it gives me and also the constant reminder of why I keep coming here. I need to keep my weight loss and health building forefront in my mind and this site helps me in so many ways to do that. So is that a plan or what?

Sounds like a FANTASTIC plan. Go for it with gusto.

I come from a family of seven kids. My mother made a lot of spaghetti making her own sauce with tomato paste, tomato sauce, spices and some sugar. Use the whole grain pastas and you are good to go.

She also made a lot of potato frittata's and we would make sandwiches out of them. It is amazing how far an egg will go.

Lunches were a lot of PB & J.

Not the most healthiest suggestions, but they can all fit into any plan. Good luck!

If you go comcast, maybe you can get a bundle and afford tv and internet.

Congrats on going back to school. Sounds terrific!

Once you enroll they will probably have computers available to use at the college. This is the beginning of exciting new changes. I'm excited for you! Does the library have computers available? That might be another way to get access for a while if you don't have it at home right away.

You have made up your mind to do it and you can. You are thinking of your body, soul and spirit not just the body.
Your education will help you in the long run and give you more confidence in yourself.
Get rid of any clothes that are too big for you as that is just an easy way to gain weight.
I gave away all my big clothes except for an outfit or two to show and tell.
You can do it.

Hi...WOW your plan sounds great!! As far as the cable we have to drop our service for 3 months during the low season and I find that I am moving more and getting muich more done than when we have it as well. You owe it to yourself and your kids to make a better life for yourselves......my sister is a single mom and she just started going to community college to pursue a career to have a better life for her and my nephew...I wish you all the best!! Setting a goal for being at your goal weight by the time you are finished with school is an awesome idea....new body/new career!! It is amazing how much confidence we have when we feel good about yourself!! emoticon Kim

It sounds like you have a great plan. I am all for education! You sound pretty happy about the decision and that is great. As for cutting down your grocery bill, frozen is great. I use a lot of frozen veggies and fruits because they last longer. If you are needing cheap, easy meals, frozen is good as well. You can get low calorie, low fat, low sodium meals for a couple of dollars a piece. They only take three to five minutes to cook and are portion controlled. I also like whole grain pastas. They are filling, healthier than regular pasta, and not expensive.

Good luck! Keep us posted on how you are doing when you can get on.

A great life plan is right there in your blog. Now go and live it, enjoying every minute as you make progress. Best of good fortune to you and your family.

P.S. Frozen veggies often have more nutrients than "fresh" that have been bumping along in a truck and sitting there in the supermarket for days.

Sounds like a plan to me! The library has computers for use and they are free. I have a house full of wonderful exercise equipment - I need to motivate myself to use. Here at work I have exercise equipment just two rooms away. My clothes won't even fit in my closet. In other words I need you to blaze a way and show me this can be done!!!

I *love* frozen veggies as a cost saver.. and they don't go bad.. and they are quick and easy!

They aren't as fun to throw in the buggy at the grocery store as a bag full of fresh veggies, but I still think frozen veggies are totally the way to go. I even stock up on huge bags of frozen veggies at sam's club!
