my cat came back from the dead

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Last night my 13 y/o son, Jonathan closed the garage door on one of our cats, he is having a hard time dealing with it. Our kitty (Kelly) darted out just as the garage door was closing, and it is supposed to raise back up but it didn't for some reason so she was there 5 or more minutes before we saw her. She wasn't breathing when we got to her.

I called all the emergency vets that were open 10pm thinking we needed to put her down but they wanted 200 dollars to do it. So since she didn't seem to be in too much pain, we waited to do it in the morning and see how she was. My son slept next to her with his angel music on, I didn't want him to sleep hearing that breathing like she was doing.

This morning at 5am I got up for work and she was gone. I looked in all the rooms in the house and couldn't find her. Knowing cats go and hide to die, I thought the worst and had to go to work. I was doing special testing so I couldn't stay home.

So when I got home this afternoon, I was happily surprised.

would you believe that she came back from the dead? She literally was not breathing and then only fast shallow chain stoke breathing, I am not sure if it was my hands on healing I did for her or at least Jesus, I was crying and asking him to work through my hands to heal her and after that, Kelly started moving and lifting her head. I just got home from work and it is like nothing ever happened, she is a bit skiddish but fine. I need to trust what I can do more and just how powerful Spirit is. I am so lucky and blest!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!

I Am really exhausted, physically and mentally. hubby has been out of town and comes home tonight. this all is just way too much, I am very happy that my son doesn't have to live with him the cause of her death, it was too much for him already.

Change the cat's name to Lazarus! I lost my doggie 2 years ago and I still feel the pain so knowing this horrible pain makes me double happy for your son and you.

Thank God she is ok!! But yes please bring her to the vet and have them give her a full check up! She may need X-rays or anything, if you can't afford it they may have payment plans or you can try for special financing. It's just really important she doesn't have internal injuries that you can't see!

But I really am soooo glad she's ok!! emoticon

Take her to a vet. You don't know if she has internal injuries that will manifest later.

Cats don't only purr because they're happy. It's also a comfort mechanism and you will often hear a dying cat purring quietly to itself, as a means of trying to relax.

I hope your son is feeling better today, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for kitty's health. :)

Thank you everyone, yes, I am watching her close, she is purring, eating, using the cat box, acting like nothing happened, she is all around in the house now and not scared anymore. I will still watch her though, you would never know it by her yesterday. I can't imagine me putting her to sleep last night, so glad I didn't. She was that bad last night.

I agree to keep an eye on her. You may want to have a vet check her out. I am so glad that she is back and I know your son feels a lot better today than yesterday.

Oh, I am so happy for you. I bet your son is also breathing a bit easier knowing Kelly is better too. My Gabby Cat is almost 19 years old and still runs the house. She was missing for at least a week when she was about 1 year old. I don't know if she was shut in someone's garage or what happened to her. She was thin and was a nervous kitty for a while. I remember how happy my kids were when she showed up. Kids certainly do love their pets. We do too!!

watch her closely, sometimes animals can deal with pain better than humans, it may have broken a bone, causing the shallow breathing, but, i guess if shes up and about shes healing so happy to hear it
