First "real" 5K this past weekend - bib and all!
I didn't run all of it, more like 1/3 of it if that, but I achieved a better time than I did practicing around home and just walking it (53 to 55 minutes at a walk).
Still, 49:43 is not a great time compared to my walking time - I would have thought some jogging would have shaved off more than 4 minutes - so I want to make it better. Don't get me wrong, it's better than I would have done just 4 weeks ago, and I AM proud of accomplishing it, but it makes clearer to me how far I still have to go, and my goal now is to shave that down to about 35 mins eventually.
I don't know how long that will take me, but I know it can be done!
As for weight, I gained this week - only 0.6. Still, I was proud of myself this week. Had a lot of challenges eating-wise, including a dinner party the night before the 5K and weigh in. I camped out at the veggie tray, and only allowed myself to "dip" into the ranch dressing (and then, just a little bit) on the last two items I ate. I indulged in ONE jalapeno popper because my friend begged me to try one since they were homemade, and I had a 5oz. glass of red wine. Not too shabby, ordinarily I'd have noshed on the buffalo chicken dip and tortilla chips, and I didn't have a SINGLE bite. A big deal since it is admittedly my favorite dip!
Dinner was - thankfully - made by someone on weight watchers, so she made it low fat. Salsa chicken (had one small piece) and spring mix salad with apples, walnuts and cranberries in a fat free balsamic. Yum!
Not sure how to explain the gain - I'm about a week away from Aunt Flo - but I don't think "she" usually affects me that much. Hopefully the scale will be kinder to me this weekend!
