Weightloss or Age?

Friday, October 15, 2010

One thing I have noticed this past year is that the veins on the back of my hands are popping out and are very noticeable... And today I was trying some shorts at KOHLS and OMG! I do not have a full length mirror at home... I about passed out when I saw all of the dark blue veins all over my legs!

It made me wonder if this is a weightloss thing or is it age? I turned 37 this past year and I am noticing lots of changes in my body, this past year sepcifically- many of which I don't like, lol. I can't help but wonder if it is age or is it weightloss?

I guess the good thing is I am enjoying the toned look to my legs. My calves are becoming very defined and my thighs are still flabby, but are looking strong. Maybe I need to take up tanning in order to hide the spider veins.

What a day! Made it though the week, not scheduled for as many hours as next week. The good news is, with the hours I am scheduled I should be able to catch a step aerobic class MWF. I used to love step aerobics... I am excited to try it again! Got my hair highlighted and cut. I am not crazy about the cut, but I do love the highlights. Will post a pic soon!!!

I am super pale so I have always seen the veins in my legs. Esp behind my knees. I have spider veins just above the knee on the outs of my legs. I first noticed them in my early twenties. I have always been told it is caused by being on your feet on hard surfaces like cement. I worked in a kitchen for 7 years and it was tile on top of cement slab. That is probably where I got mine. Agree with earlier poster that they are caused by the gain and not the loss. The loss just makes you look at yourself in more figure flattering clothes so you notice them.

Spider veins usually come from weight gain, not loss; you're probably just noticing them since you don't have that full length mirror at home. Or maybe you're more attentive now?

I have spider veins (and I'm a decade older), but I am proud to say they're not as bad as my mom's, who has been heavy pretty much her entire married life. Another good reason to keep the weight off!

Can't wait to see the do.

I notice the veins on my hands a lot than I ever used to, so I think that might be the weight loss. I don't know about my legs, I probably don't pay as much attention as I should.

I have had veins show on my legs for years. That does not bother me as much as my skin that is loose on my neck. I still would rather be stronger and smaller, marks and all.

It could be a little of both. I hope you enjoy your step class. Have a great weekend.

Could be a bit of both. I am really pale (red headed baby) and I use a sunless tanner by nutrogena. It's not perfect but as it is a foam it goes on easy and dries fast and as it is end of season I find they are usually in sale. I have lots of marks on my legs (veins, stretch marks, permanent brusies) and I do find that a little of the fake sun gose along way to hiding things. The veins in your hands could be water related - mild deyhdration can do funny things to tissue.

Either way - I bet your hubby hasn't noticed ;)

I have the same question about the spider veins. I have been getting them in my thighs mostly. I do LOTS of walking and I am thinking it might be that. I LOVE step aerobics too! Hope you find a class that works into your schedule!
    Keep working it!
