A funny thing happened to me last night, well kind of funny. So I took off on my four mile run last night. Felt really good, confident that I was going to have a great run. The weather was nice and cool, etc. I got a block from my house when it happened. I caused an accident. I paused as I started across the street (on the sidewalk) because I noticed a car wanted to turn but she stopped, rather abruptly I might add. As I went across I was thinking to myself that “man, she is going to get rear ended” yep just as I finished that thought, it happened, nothing big, just a gentle tap. But you would have thought that this older couple’s car was destroyed. They started yelling at the young driver, so I stayed put. They called the police kept yelling at her, meanwhile it brought out all the neighbors. I called hubby to let him know I was delayed a little and he ended up coming around the corner. Now I understand it was totally the other drivers fault for following too closely and not paying attention but there was no damage and to freak out like this couple did was totally un-called for. Of course one of the police officers go “well she did stop in the middle of the street” of course that made me feel totally at fault but then again I’m glad she did stop. I went on with my run thinking as bad as this couple freaked out that they will probably try to sue me since I was running across the neighborhood street on the sidewalk. Crazy!
Then this morning, I’m sitting here at my desk clearly not working on what I’m supposed to when the whole building starts to shake. My first thought was that some teenager ran into the building (our building holds the license/driving testing) but no, guess what? We had an earthquake! Yep, I foresee oceanfront property in our near future. It was a 4.4 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was located about 30 miles southeast of us. Can you believe the emergency management people went on alert? Crazy! I’ll let you know when my property is ready for rent. You should be able to see the ocean from my front porch!
