What will it take to go from a FLICKER to a FLAME

"MOST BARRIERS TO YOUR SUCCESS ARE MAN-MADE. AND MOST OFTEN, YOU'RE THE MAN WHO MADE THEM." ~ Frank Tyger

Well surely you can't start backwards and move forwards so we must begin from the beginning. To some, however, they start somewhere in the middle - rather disjointed journey when it starts in the middle of an unknown cycle. What I am saying here is that far too many people start in an order that wouldn't give them a flicker much less a flame because they have not planned their journey - they have just jumped in somewhere, even if they don't know where they are, and expect to somehow flourish with their goals. Course that is then the next topic - do they even have any goals, chances are not and if they do they also don't build a pathway to success.

You begin by just getting some fleeting thoughts about whether you want to endeavor to lose weight or begin to put more activity into your life or begin to eat better. You bounce around with that for awhile and then you may just decide to do something about it. Quite often that first, if not many firsts, start with a half-hearted attempt at something that certainly has no defining characteristics. We would then hope that at some point you could get serious enough to light a fire under your butt and then you can say you have a FLICKER. This is a good step and a good start and pray tell you don't blow out your flicker before it has time to build itself into a flame. When you reach the flame you are on fire and nothing will stop you from reaching your goals.

Ultimately this is the process you would want to have on the circumference of your plan - however what about the meat and potatoes of that plan - did you do that work yet? This is the part that will take you from one level of flame to another and contains all the most important things that you can do. Many bypass this peice and many continue to struggle - and they struggle because they didn't plan their battle strategy. Here is where you make or break it all - this is where you want to GRAB THAT SPARK AND TURN IT TO FLAME. No daudling here - hard work, sweat and tears are the story of the day - You can only love the POWER that vibrates through you as you challenge your world of GOALS and make them real - ONE STEP AT A TIME.

We begin with a very big goal, whatever that will be. We then break that down to many, many little goals that are road signs to our destination. Each sign is defined and labeled and contains every crucial bit of information you need to accomplish getting beyond that sign. Before you put that sign to rest you must ensure you have completed everything you needed to complete to say you have accomplished that task in full. The you bury that sign. YOOHOO let me at the next one. See how much fun this can be - heaven help me make sure that your armed with creative humor because truly this is the food that feeds that flicker and makes what was once a dreaded journey turn into an experience of a lifetime and one that has made you feel completely whole and happy.

One by one you tackle those signs and each sign that you put to rest is another boost to your self esteem. Make sure that you are doing everything in a manner that makes each endeavor one that is permanent - NOPE NO TEMPORARY STOPS ALLOWED HERE, AFTER ALL YOUR GOING FOR THE FLAME!!!

Go BIG OR STAY HOME - that is the ATTITUDE here ----- I'm after the biggest flame known to man and that flame WILL LIGHT ME AND MY WORLD!!!

emoticon That's the kind of knock-yer-socks-off power that turns a wish into reality, Karen, and you've described it so thoroughly! Unless a major life change contains well-planned, logical, doable incremental steps, the little wish or dream which sparked it will be doomed - doomed to the kind of chaotic entropy which takes hold when there's a lack of structure, the absence of a solid foundation. Each element must fit in the proper place at the right time, or we'll have a mere house of cards in a hurricane. We can't start clogging Santa Claus' North Pole mailbox with "Dear Santa, I need a new body!" and seriously think the jolly old dude will comply! Besides, Santa's a pretty far cry from Lou Ferrigno.

Nope, we've got to put together a workable blueprint and turn it into the groundwork first; there's no "I'll eat less; I'll walk more; I'll weigh 125 by year's end!" balderdash. Besides, when's the last time you heard anyone say "balderdash"? We can't bury any of those signs you alluded to if no one hammers 'em into the ground in the first place! emoticon

Well, count me in! If I've got to "go big" to "get smaller," I'm in it to win it! - Sandi emoticon
