I love cheesecake

Sunday, October 10, 2010

I'm usually pretty good about sweets - not really "good" it's just that for the most part I don't desire them.

Yesterday I went to a baby shower and there was a cheesecake on the desert table. (I had already passed up to regular cake with no trouble)!! I had ONE piece of cheesecake. It was sweet, smooth, tasty, etc., etc.

This morning I logged my food from yesterday into my tracker and to my utter horror I found that that ONE piece of cheesecake was 870 calories.

I couldn't believe it - thought that maybe that was for the whole pie - I went back to the tracker and looked at different varieties, different brands, different flavors, etc. Turns out that I was correct the first time - 870 calories.

Wow - I've learned a lot about different foods since being on SP, but now I'll have to add another terrible lesson.....

Sigh - I love cheesecake!

Thanks for the comment! I LOVE cheesecake, too. If you've been generally good I don't see having that slice (even with the high calories) as a big deal. I would have eaten it as well! :) I have a recipe for cheesecake cookies and even though they aren't totally healthy, it's like a mini bite of cheesecake. You get the satisfaction of the taste with less calories. The trick is eating just one, haha. :)

Cheesecake is one of my weeknesses! My absolute favorite dessert - second favorite being Brownies which are no less deadly. I found a wonderful thing at Sam's Club - bite sized cheesecakes - ok, wonderful if you have self control lol. I buy that for one of my daughters birthdays instead of a traditional cheesecake - works out much better as long as I leave the leftovers in someone else freezer.

Gosh, had no idea it was that many calories. Yikes, thanks for educating me.
Have a great Sunday

Yep, seems like all the "good" stuff is horribly fattening! But now and then, we just have to have it. Jello makes a sf/ff cheesecake pudding that isn't too bad....

If you want to get a little bit of cheesecake flavor, I take a 1/2 cup of lowfat cottage cheese, a couple packets of splenda and either some chocolate protein powder or fat free, sugar free chocolate pudding to taste and blend it in the food processor. It is yummy and full of protein!!!!!

Fortunately one piece of cheesecake won't make a difference in the larger scheme of things. I am glad you posted this blog and for PMAY0313's comment on Chef Meg's cheesecake. I am going to have to look it up.

I hope you enjoyed every luscious bite of it.

Yep. That is why it tastes so good. Chef Meg has a lower calorie one that is really good!
