Walking feels pretty good!

Saturday, October 09, 2010

Ok, it's the end of the week and I've had this sore back for a week and a day now. It is better, movement has improved and I should be able to start back on Fire sometime next week if not on Monday. I am excited about that. Three days ago I wanted to go for a short walk, but the crop harvesters were out in full force around our place. The ground is so dry that when they drove past, it looked like white out in the winter except that it was beige out (dusty gravel roads!) so I didn't go for a walk cos I didn't want to chance a vehicle not seeing me and being run over or something. Yesterday there were less machinery out and I went for a walk - not a real brisk one as my back still hurts some, but it was nice and steady and I clocked an hour. It felt great to get out and move!! The temperature was 86 - Indian Summer - and today was even hotter. I went for a 45 minute walk and both days there was a breeze so I just walked on the side of the road where the wind blew away from me. That way I didn't have to choke on dust when the vehicles drove by. :D So I'm hopeful to being 100% healed within a week (less would be better).

Thankx for the support and encouragement Jenn, Ann and Tammy. I'm back! My lower back feels good enough for me to work out *carefully* with Turbo Fire again. I hope I'm not being too impatient. I promise to listen to my body :)

At least you found a good substitution. Just remember a mile walked burns off the same calories as a mile run.

Hang in there! You need to take care of yourself.

Thankx Ladies for the comments. Fluffybeme, these country gravel roads are fairly safe becos we don't have town or city traffic so lots of times I'll walk and only have 1 or 2 trucks or cars go by, if that. This harvesting time is the busiest and most dangerous cos of the big farm machinery going by all the time. But you just gotta be careful and use your head. At least when you're walking to a dvd inside your home, you know you'll be safe and not get hit by a car or something....lol

Corine - I think I would feel silly wearing a scarf while walking lol

Marcy, I'm almost back to 'normal' (if that's possible haha).

Cindy, not quite 100%, but getting there! I'd say about 80%. This week is supposed to be nice again. Yahoo! A little tiny bit of rain would be nice to just settle the dust a little.

Good for you emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon My Grandma made me wear a silly little Vail/scarf so dirt wouldn't affect me in anyway! Lol Grandma was so cute that way!

Walking on dirt roads - I wish I had a safe place to walk in my neighborhood. Instead I walk to DVDs & get it done each evening when I get home from work.

Keep up the great work!
