Sick of Sick and #s

Wednesday, October 06, 2010

Here I am, here I am! Still alive and kicking, but have been under the weather for about two weeks now and I'm sick of it. Friday and Saturday I totally lost my voice (I'm sure my family was secretly happy). Haven't felt horrible, but have had enough persistent congestion and fatigue to be annoying. Have been trying to use that as motivation to eat really healthy, but there have been a few days, just getting soup at the local deli sounded good... which meant eating the incredible flatbread/pita stuff they have that goes with it. And which then means walking by the bakery case with all sorts of fantastic pasteries which I just had to sample. I've been trying to keep up good exercise, but have had some days I had to take it easier than I wanted.

As I said in the last few blog entries, it all really boils down to buckling down on the food choices. I skated by this weekend w/out major disaster, but still a little too much extras so that I broke a streak of being in deficit on Saturday. Sunday wasn't wonderful either, but I ran almost 7 miles and did some walking/playing so was able to burn the calories to keep the day in check... still not wonderful.

Speaking of streaks, my tracking streak is now at 30 days! Yay... one month of solid tracking. That is a good trend. Now, if I can get a better streak fo days in range, I might see some movement on the scale. I'm seeing 3-4 days of being in range, then 3-4 days of being over on the range, but maybe staying in a deficit... and it just is not working. The scale has not really moved in about two weeks.

Back to the positive... exercise is consistent. I had some lighter days here and there due to feeling a bit sick, but still doing it. I traded walking and yoga for a run on Saturday and boy was it a reminder to me to do some more yoga more consistently. On the flip, last week, I ended up with extra walks on 3 different days. Now that the weather is so nice, it makes it easier to get out for a 15-20 min walk here and there. Last Wednesday after having run and gone to the gym in the morning, the girls convinced me to walk to the park in the evening after dinner... nice when the kids force me into more activity!

I'm feeling the need to post #s like I did previously... it helped me be more accountable and looking back at comments I made with the #s to see what was going on. Here goes for the last two weeks:

5-Oct 1525 475 1050 -400

I feel like I should have seen movement with these #s.. BUT it is easy to see what is going on weekends. And I think a number of these days could have been estimated a bit light on the calories. I'm working on that now and have been trying to do more measuring. Also being mindful of any passing bites as I walk through the kitchen... must track those!!!

hooray for numbers! Keep posting them -- I will get back to tracking in my excel sheet, too. It definitely keeps me aware of what's REALLY going on. Amazing how we can mentally blur a day and not understand why we're not losing. Numbers don't lie!
