Shopping spree!

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Today it was my day off. I lazily woke up at 11.30 am, had my breakfast, checked the boards... and then at around 3.30 I decided I wanted to go out.

You must know that I have obtained the chance of having a photo shoot taken by Weight Watchers for their UK website which is planned for next week's Wednesday. I wanted to go there with something really special that I bought for myself after reaching goal, and I had also a lovely gift card with 40 in for a shop called New Look here in the UK, where I hoped I could find something nice.

So said, done. At around 4 pm there I was, walking downstairs and reaching the High Street, and New Look. The lucky thing is that sales were also on, which I thought could be handy, but unfortunately all the items in the same were not my size emoticon. Anyway, I didn't discourage and kept on looking. Just to see if it fit, I picked up a pair of size 4 jeans, and a pair of size 4 black trousers. I also grabbed the equivalent size 6, just in case. well... I went to the fitting room and they FIT. I didn't even need to try on the 6's because the 4's were fitting like a glove, so I went off and bought those, feeling really proud. Good news was that the total of the two was only 19.99, which means that I still have 20 I can use out of that gift card. LOVELY!

Then I went to NEXT, another high street shop here in the UK. I had seen a lovely jumper I wanted to buy, but when I walked in, I noticed that the jumper was still on the dummy on the top of the clothes, but I couldn't see any on sale. I noticed though that there were some pearls on the front which I didn't really fancy because I hate it when I wash things in the washing machine and the glimmering stuff or pearls or whatever fall off. So I moved on... and went to the petite section.

There was a nice pair of size 4 skinny jeans... just for a laugh, I decided to try it on. I don't like skinny jeans on me because my legs always look like sausages on them, because I have big knees. But since in New Look I had bought a pair of size 4 (bootleg) jeans, I thought of giving it a go and see how horrible they looked on me. Well.. I went in the changing room and... magically, they FIT, and my legs looked actually quite decent in them. Of course they were very difficult to put on... including from the FEET as my talons seemed to be too big for them. I had to force them in and take off my socks to take them off emoticon. Then, I had to work a bit to lift up the last few millimetres of the jeans in order to make it sit comfortably on my waist... but it DID button up and I also had room to breathe! And as I said, my legs looked quite OK in them. BUT I CHOSE not to buy them. This is a big victory for me, because normally I would have bought something just because it fit. I was reading another girl's blog today about her still having a fat mind... and that was MY fat mind, buying something just because it was the size down and it fit. So I decided to wait. I want it to not only button up, but also to get up comfortably. I don't think there's much to do about my talons, which can't slim and can't be chopped, but hopefully before Christmas they will be a perfect fit even without having to work hard to put them up. And at that time, I'll buy them! BUT I decided to buy for myself a nice set of bra and knickers for when my DF will be back emoticon

Then, I went to Sainsbury's (a supermarket) and I saw a nice jumper, size 6, which probably will be a bit large for me but with jumpers it shouldn't matter too much, they can be just comfy can't they? I also bought a size 6 outfit for the gym (which you want to be comfy!) Not that I have a gym membership, but I like to be active and it's good to have something decent to wear when you want to do some exercise!

Overall, I spent roughly 37, because I don't include the money spent in New Look (it was a gift after all!) and I bought myself 2 pair of trousers, 1 set of undie, 1 gym set (trousers and top) and one jumper. Not bad at all!

Thanks for your message Jodie! Oh a jumper is a sweater, sorry about that, it's the UK word for it. Like trousers = pants (pants in the UK is underwear! emoticon )

Yes, what's with the sale rack? I could only find huge sizes on it, or also sizes 10/12, but no smaller sizes. And when I was a size 10/12, I couldn't find anything and my friends kept on saying that it was because it was the most common English size so it always disappeared immediately from the sales shelves! Now, either everybody have become healthy and thin, or shops just don't get anymore too many 4's to 8's because people don't buy them?

Thanks about the compliments. You're doing a fantastic job too and I'm sure you'll find your sexy you're on your way! emoticon

Dumb question but what's a jumper? I have a vision in my head of what I think it is but I'm not sure. Is it a dress?

Congratulations on NOT buying something just because it fit. That's my goal right now. Only to buy things that make me feel good and not buy them because they are on sale or just because they fit.

You are doing such a good job!!

And what's with the sale racks? When I was a size 22, everything on the sale rack was tiny. Now that I am smaller, everything on the sales racks are plus sized. What the heck?

Keep Sparking.
