Taking Away the Respect & Power

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

I am an 8 year survivor of stage 4 breast cancer. I refuse to capitalize the words breast cancer because it gives this insidious disease too much power and respect. It may be my own little mind game, but when I write the words breast cancer, it does take away any power that breast cancer thought it had over me before I beat it. My respect is reserved for all of those who have beat the disease and work to help others get through the bad times they face with it. Let's all work at taking away the power that breast cancer thinks it has over us.

Like Screwie, I find it difficult to make a comment that does justice to your strength and power to overcome breast cancer but feel that I must show my support for you and others in the same situation.

I've been musing what to write in my comment for several minutes, because a blog like this should not go unacknowledged. At the same time, it is really too powerful for any added words.

I salute your strength and your power.
