Is the day I joined SparkPeople.
Is the day I started Couch to 5K
Is the day I changed my life.

It is so hard to believe that just 1 year ago I could not even run 60 seconds without feeling like I was going to explode.

I remember being completely freaked about about having to run for 20 minutes straight.

I remember the feeling that I had when I graduated the couch to 5K program.

I remember my first race and the "hill" that I had no idea I would run

I remember my second race when my 2 year old son had a meltdown because he wanted to run with me( incredible experience)

I remember my wife saying that she wanted to run a marathon but not alone. I still can not believe i said sure to that one!

so here we are 1 year later and I now:
Eat healthier
Run 30+ miles a week
Lost 53 pounds and have maintained it so far during training
am less than 2 weeks away from the marathon
ready to start my next journey.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to another great year.

It is so funny how these little changes become so large over time and how naturally Sept 27 2009 lead to Oct 10 2010. I ran a 10km in the fall colours run Oct 10. I was 3 sec a km of my personal best on a very hilly windy course. However, my 5 year old grandson and a 6 year old and 11 year old neighbour all did personal bests in the 1 km trot. All recieved finisher medals all said they would become Chi Runners like Popie.

I count that as three personal bests for me on that day. That is part of what this change is about, inspriing our kids and grand kids.

Way to go Steve.

Steve, It is great to see the progress you have made in a year. Good luck with the Marathon.

I didn't find C25K until February, but it sure has changed my attitude toward running. Just got off the old gerbil mill at 9:00 tonight.

One year at Spark for me comes in January who knows what that may bring.

Keep on Sparkin!

Steve, I hope that next year I can say the same thing. I am about at the point you were a year ago. Thanks for giving me hope!
