A Touch of Honesty.

Sunday, September 26, 2010

I do not change my weight ticker anymore. Yes, I will if I get to 115.0 but not after that.

Why? Because I want people to see this can be done. I want people to know that no dream is impossible. 95 lbs gone forever.

I will tell anyone, anytime, what I weigh that morning because yes, I weigh every day. But maintenance means fluctuation and I don't feel the need to keep changing the ticker.

This is what SP is all about, helping one another to reach previously thought impossible dreams! The Spark Program works! Start with Stage One and do the steps no matter how silly they seem. I only missed the collage but I might just make one this year for getting me to follow through with exercising!

Hang clothes on the closet door so you can try them on whenever you start to get discouraged! That really works!! Even if they still don't fit, you will know if you are getting closer!

Eat the calories SP tells you to eat! Do not be afraid! Concentrate on your Cardio and you will be burning calories!

Call on me if you need me! That is why I am still here. We all need each other to make this happen!

I love you!
Linda

**When I first heard people asking for a special maintenance ticker I didn't understand. Now that I am maintaining, I can really see the need.

Great blog, Linda. I can relate to every single point. Maintenance is possible and wonderful and I'm completely convinced that it can last a lifetime! I do believe that at some point, I won't think of myself as being "in maintenance." Having been "in maintenance" for a little over a year, I rarely think of maintenance eating anymore. Healthy eating, which includes proper calories for my current weight, has become my normal, and it is obvious that it is your new normal, too!

I really think there should be a special ticker for maintenance. When I got to goal last year, it was one of the things that threw me off that there wasn't one. It should be a special color and clearly designated.

It really helps, too, that you make this statement about fluctuation at maintenance from having arrived at maintenance and having stayed there.

You have the credibility to say that and we can understand that you have arrived at a lifestyle change, and that you keep checking to make sure you're maintaining the changed attitude, but you're also not getting overly worried about every little thing.

Thank you and good for you!

Boy, I needed this blog. I'm not really putting in the effort to lose the weight and this week I've decided to re-focus my attentions. Some of that re-focus is relinquishing some of my team leader duties. I've already put some feelers on some of the teams. I'm glad you are here and keep writing these blogs. They really encourage me.

Another great blog, Linda! I think you are right. Changing your weight ticker daily or probably even monthly is too much when you are maintaining. I'm grateful that you are here for all of us.

Thanks for this. I've been wondering about some people's tickers. I suppose another option would be just not to share your ticker at all. Leave it hidden.

Way to go, Linda! Congratulations on your awesome accomplishment! I hope that within the next year, I will be able to have had the great accomplishment that you have had. I've been at a standstill for awhile now and I need to get motivated to cut back even more and eat healthier. I hope that I can learn what you now know. God bless.

I can see your point but at the same time I also think everyone needs to know that weight does fluctuate even on maintenance so they do not think they are different.

I weigh myself every day too. I think that's important; also important to accept that minor weight fluctuations are a normal part of life. Thanks for doing what you do, Linda. You're terrific!

Another sensible and motivating blog, Linda!

I'm kind of with you about the ticker. One thing I have never done with mine is acknowledge how far I am from my lifetime highest weight. It dawned on me just this week, that at one point in my life (1989, and again in 2005) I tipped the scale at 224 pounds. Lately, the scale is hovering around the 125 point, and showed me 124 one day... and the number "100 pounds"... "Barb, you have discarded 100 pounds since 1989... not all at once, but over time!"

So, yes, people, if you keep working at it, maybe even over decades with slips, falls and backslides, it is possible! We CAN do this, and we're worth it!
