I've fallen and I need help getting up!!

I'm having one of THOSE days!

You know the day....You've all had one at one time or another.

I'm eating everything in the house!

I'm binging!

I can't stop!

I'm not over the top yet but soon will be.

Quick!! Tell me how YOU stopped the binge!

And hurry please!

Otherwise, I will have to go grocery shopping and there will be more to binge on!

    Boy am I late to this food party!!! Wish I coulda chowed down with you, I have been having one of those MONTHS too where I just dont want to stop... eating!!! GRRR! Hope the temptations subsided!!!

    I eat some protein. Even if you are not in the mood for it. Eating protein will balance out your insulin levels and help end the craving swings. Tell yourself you can have as much protein as you want, whenever you want. It will fill you up sooner and make you feel more satisfied.

    Hey friend!!!! Check out this site...

When I was having issues... I worked through a lot of it. There's nothing wrong with me, people get stressed and turn to food, ok, duh, this is emotional. But WHAT IS IT????

This site helps so much! You'll realize its ONE of these reasons!!!!

    Sorry ... I did this just a week ago and unfortunately just ate until I couldn't eat no more. I just don't do it everyday anymore. I notice especially the day after my long runs I usually want to eat everything in sight. I am doing okay today (long run day) hopefully I will do good tomorrow too.

    First, don't put the stuff in the house. That is my big problem. It I try it and like it I want more of it. Go for a run. It is so hot and humid that you will want more water and that will fill you up. You can do it. You are running a lot getting ready for the upcoming races so maybe your not eating enough and your body wants more? Don't worry though, your not insane as I hear those little voice calling me from our pantry also. I just wish they wouldn't yell at times.

    Just checkin' in to see how the rest of your day went...

I know those days - and have had way too many of them in the past few months :(

I usually let it run it's course.

My Dr. says it usually starts with your body craving something it needs (protein, carbs, salt) - but then the emotional part kicks in, where you think you've already blown it... might as well keep going.

So if I just give into it, I'll stop sooner than later because I don't let myself (or try not to) feel bad about it.

    Suezette, do what bobby said and I have had to do the same - just get it done and the damage won't be as bad as you think. if you avoid it it will sneak up on you again.

Have a good run tomorrow and the binge will be history!!!! its the stress from your friend Mike thats laid up in the Hospital. Hugs my friend

    First get a large bottle of water. PUt some lemons in it...Then turn off the kitchen lights. Put chairs in front of the entrance to the kitchen. Go to the opposite side of the house-- or out in the yard. Sit down. Drink the water as slowly as you can. The urge to eat should pass within 10 minutes.While you are there, take some deep breaths pushing your belly out and letting the air out through your nose slowly.

IF you are thinking about it and get mad. Clench your fists and hold for 60 seconds. Repeat process.

Eating if emotional is either anger, fear, or sadness. NOt usually out of pure joy.

What was the trigger. What happened just before you felt like you needed to eat?

Or was it hormonal...pms... where the body is preparing for the possibility of a kid...feeling like it needs to load up.

You will get through it. Great job on coming to ask for help. Putting those fingers to work...typing, reading, playing an instrument all help!

    I agree with the people who suggested you find out WHY you want to eat so much right now. What is going on inside? Talk to a friend, walk or run while you think about what's going on or journal your thoughts and feelings.

Usually, once I figure out what is going on, I don't end up eating. But sometimes I do just give in, though not nearly as often or as deeply as I used to. I don't beat myself up about it but still, there is almost always a feeling of 'Ugh! Why did I do that?!? The answer is usually, "Oh, yeah! I thought it would make things better but it didn't change a thing except my waistline".

    Suezette, GO to the grocery store....but put on your trainers and grab a cloth bag or a backpack bag, and either WALK or RUN to the store (make sure it's a store that is at least 2 miles away) the time you get there, you very well may not feel like buying a single thing.

Are you over it yet? You have some great suggestions and a few funny ones. Before 7/20/07. I didn't call something binging, didn't know what it meant. I just ate and ate and ate. If I had a 1/2 gallon of ice cream, I ate it all, no dish, just the box, If I only had peanut butter , I finished the jar. If I didn't have anything, I ordered 2 large subs and had them delivered, understand this was most nights.
In the last 3 years, I have not done that, came close to calling for a sub (2) and one night , was tempted to go the grocery store, but didn't.
Beside ghostly movies, is there something that triggers that process?
Sorry I can't give you a suggestion but you did get a lot of help, if you lived a little closer, would run up and give you some fruit.

    Ooooh, I hate those!

Binges are like horror movie monsters. They sneak up on you slowly, you can SEE them coming, but you just can't get away! And the same rules apply - Run! GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!

You've gotta do something that's totally incompatible with eating.
Go to a museum, library or art gallery (no food allowed), exercise/run/gym, brush your teeth. I don't suppose you can take a nap? I sometimes scrapbook or stamp since food and drinks aren't allowed anywhere NEAR the fancy paper!

Writing or talking about it might help. For me it helps to know WHY the urge to binge is happening. It's often frustration, or a feeling of helplessness. In which case I make a concerted effort to attack the to do list. Sometimes I want to eat when I'm in pain - not much I can do about that one. Sometimes it's when I'm exhausted - my body really wants sleep, but food is the only sustenance available. In that case, bubble baths, sleepy tea, reading a book (in bed - where there is no food allowed!) helps.

    I would fix a bottle of water and go for a walk - don't come back until that's gone and then fix yourself something healthy. If that doesn't cure it, think of what you REALLY want and have ONE serving. Usually if I"m craving something and go ahead and have it, it's better than grazing my way through the day trying to satisfy it!

    GET AWAY FROM THE FOOD. Do something with your hands that requires cleanliness - like scrapbooking or playing video games or something. Take a shower. Yell out loud - I'M NOT REALLY HUNGRY SO I AM NOT GOING TO EAT ANYMORE FOOD! Get dirty so you feel you can't eat food. Go roll in your garden.

First of all a bear hug to you .To me usually it helps to sit or lie down or walk or whatever and think about whats wrong that i need to hide it eating . after i find out whats bugging me the need to eat goes away on its own but not till i have found the cause of whats eating me

    Drink a ton of water at once. Remove yourself from the source -- ie. get out of the house and go for a walk or visit a friend.

If that fails, just binge. Have it all. When you're done you'll know that the next binge is going to be a lot farther down the road from this one than the last one was.....You won't feel that good and that will remind you why you don't normally do this (anymore?).

    Uh, I hate those days! Here are some ideas to try..... drink a bunch of water and add some lemon, then go brush your teeth, floss, and use mouthwash if you have it. Plan a healthy meal that you actually want to eat. If you have time, treat yourself to something healthy that you don't normally get, like a favorite salad from a restaurant. Get it take-out if you can. Last of all, give yourself a BREAK and take a few things off your to-do list that can wait till a day you are feeling better. Treat yourself to a rest, a bath, or something else non-food related! Browse the "motivation" or "success pages" on spark!
Okay - that is the best I have. Wish you the best - and I hope you will repeat all this back to me on my next bad day!

    Find something else to do, like workout or go run to get your mind off of eating. After you workout you won't want to eat because you will not want to ruin your workout with more food.

    Lol! I don't think I ever can stop a binge other than letting it run its course and then run it all off. I'm not sure that's good advise though, lol!
