Hi the weather may finally be turning around here..the long range forecast shows no rain for the next 14 days!!!!woohoo
I quadded the 3 home herds and it was cold and windy.I had on my winter parka but came back to the yard for gloves, let me check the calendar..yup, still summer for a few days!!
2 days ago we had a hard frost that killed my flowers and any above ground garden stuff left, which wasn't much. So today I spent some time cleaning up flowers and plants and putting garden equipment away, draining hoses, etc. I still have potatoes, carrots, turnips and parsnips in the garden but they'll all be fine for awhile. My 2 five gallon pails of green tomatoes are taking their time ripening so I'm still waiting to make a batch or 2 of salsa. I already made 2 big batches of tomato sauce, then whirled it in the blender and froze it..I added some zucchini this year (don't tell hubby he thinks he'll only eat zucchini in chocolate cake haha) I also added some grated zucchini in the big batch of meatballs and hamburger patties, it made them very moist! and lower cal and more veggies :)
The frost was so hard we had ice on my "cowboy" hot tub (which is just a cattle water trough that I do my hot tubbing in) ahhh the life of a redneck :) I still have to drain it and put it away for the winter.
We get TCM station on our satellite dish and today I watched a classic movie I loved as a kid...Wait until Dark starring Audrey Hepburn..it was just as good now as 40 years ago. I even phoned my sister in Regina to tell her it was on if she wanted to watch it..ah memories :)
Hubby got moved home from the neighbors cutting hay and is back on our green feed, he's caught up to what fields the neighbor has combined so will have to do the rest later. We went over and moved the truck home tonight after supper.
Well it felt like I didn't do much today but I guess I did..we had herb and garlic rubbed crock pot chicken, boiled sweet potatoes ( I like to microwave them but the microwave quit ) peas and carrots and I had with that a spinach salad with tomatoes and cucumbers..I had a little treat of 1/2 cup mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert. Hubby has the wood stove going in the family room and we're both on our own lap top computers..how romantic :)
I should go track my supper food and see what else is new on the world wide web.
Have a great week every one and keep on sparkin' :)
