Wow, I can say that now. I have not smoked in almost 3 months and I can honestly say that I don't think about it very often any more. Sure, I have my days and temptations, but it is getting through those with my goals sticking and a clear focus of what I really want.
I want to be a non-smoker. I like being a non-smoker.
I am so proud of this accomplishment! It took coordinating two other people in my life to also quite so that we weren't triggering each other. Boy, that has been fun dealing with all of us under the same roof quitting smoking at the same time.
Actually, it worked really well and we found that open communication was a big part of our success. We had our own little support group where we were able to talk freely about our thoughts and feelings ...and we did this often in the beginning. All three of us have quit and are doing great. LOL
We bought a lot of gum and have tried every flavor out there. Any time we got a craving we would throw a stick of gum in our mouth. I am not a gum chewer, but in the thick of a craving it really worked. I had all these plans to use the nicotine patch and gum, but found I got frustrated when the patch would fall off, but the gum was helpful for a little while ...I did find that I got the same results from any gum and stopped using the nicotine gum. In the end the tools I used and found helpful really surprised me.
I feel much better, I am not socially isolated anymore, and I don't have that hanging over me any more. At this stage I feel "freedom"
I DID IT ...I AM FREE
