I'm a non-smoker!

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Wow, I can say that now. I have not smoked in almost 3 months and I can honestly say that I don't think about it very often any more. Sure, I have my days and temptations, but it is getting through those with my goals sticking and a clear focus of what I really want.

I want to be a non-smoker. I like being a non-smoker.

I am so proud of this accomplishment! It took coordinating two other people in my life to also quite so that we weren't triggering each other. Boy, that has been fun dealing with all of us under the same roof quitting smoking at the same time.

Actually, it worked really well and we found that open communication was a big part of our success. We had our own little support group where we were able to talk freely about our thoughts and feelings ...and we did this often in the beginning. All three of us have quit and are doing great. LOL

We bought a lot of gum and have tried every flavor out there. Any time we got a craving we would throw a stick of gum in our mouth. I am not a gum chewer, but in the thick of a craving it really worked. I had all these plans to use the nicotine patch and gum, but found I got frustrated when the patch would fall off, but the gum was helpful for a little while ...I did find that I got the same results from any gum and stopped using the nicotine gum. In the end the tools I used and found helpful really surprised me.

I feel much better, I am not socially isolated anymore, and I don't have that hanging over me any more. At this stage I feel "freedom"

I DID IT ...I AM FREE

KCONNOR3 I have tried to find you on Sparks but you have not created a Sparks page. To get support from the Sparks community (and me) you need to have a sparks page. Otherwise I can not send you messages. This is why I am responding here rather than contacting you personally.

Please contact me again when you have this set up and I would be glad to offer you support!

    Cheers!

Congratulations! Having been there, fought that fight, I understand completely. I'm a couple months ahead of you and wish you well. Every time it comes up for me, I remind myself that I've already "done the work" and I don't want to do it again!

    emoticon on your achievement.
Believe me Been there done that and just kicked the habit overnite by sheer will power.
I used to smoke about 60 to 80 cigs a day around 1/2 ctn a day. Literally chain smoking.
Be careful, I did put on a lot of weight, to get rid of it had a tough time. Went upto 211 pounds but today am just 155 pounds.
Just thought of sharing it with you.
By GOD's grace I am clear of any chest congestion and any illness associated with smoking and drinking!.
    Praise the Lord.

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
