It can be really hard to stop eating after having a measured portion of a delicious snack or meal. Certain foods I will never, ever eat because I know I can't stop eating them, like bar-b-que potato chips. I have come up with a fantastic snack strategy that will help me stop before I eat the whole bag, can or other container of such yummy, irresistible snacks before going overboard. My plan is to eat the snack just before I am going to leave the house so that the lingering flavor won't pull me back to have more than I should. I absolutely LOVE Diamond Almonds flavored with wasabi and soy sauce. Yum! I could easily eat the whole container at once! What I do is plan to eat the snack just before I am going to leave the house. That way, there is a forced end to my snack time and I can't continue grazing. After a few minutes the desire goes away and by the time I get home I am in control of my appetite and not tempted to go back to the same snack. I am going to do the same thing with certain dinners that I get tempted by on those nights that the family sits around the table with the opportunity to graze. I will plan to cook those tempting meals on nights when there isn't time to sit around and graze because I need to be running out the door right after dinner to a meeting or other errand. By planning my meal in this way I won't be tempted to sit around and munch long after I have had my fill.
