As I mentioned before I raided the library for all sorts of diet books and have been going through them. Was quite disappointed with the woman, can't think of her name, who does the Biggest Loser show. Just sort of reminded me of a reformed smoker and seemed a bit zealous. But part of the purpose of checking all these books was to see how different they might all be and I'm sure her book is probably just the thing for someone just not me.
I read "Eat Drink & Weigh Less" by Mollie Katzen and Walter WIllett, MD. Since Mollie Katzen helped write it, I thought it should have a fabulous recipe section but it seemed sort of average to me.
The basics of the book are what they call the nine turning points
1 Eat lots of vegetables and fruits
2 Say yes to good fats
3 Upgrade your carbohydrates
4 Chose healthy portions
5 Stay hydrated
6 Drink alcohol in moderation (optional)
7 Take a multivitamin every day
8 Move more
9 Eat mindfully all day long
So overall I'd say that this is a really good book for the basics of healthy living.
So for my last week in review, yeah I know it's Wednesday of this week but better late than never.
1. Lost one and a half pounds and that was with a few good slip ups. So I guess this journaling is really helping
2. Managed to journal the entire week which is a first for me.
3. Even with all the health issues right now, I was able to walk Emily at night four out of the five times I wanted to.
4. Still need to work on portion size. First day of journaling was making potatoes. Guessed I had 1 to 1 1/2 cups but when measured was 2 cups.
