3 hours sleep last night--plan to make it a healthy day

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

I made a big mistake last night by watching "Gone with the Wind" on TCM. I didn't realize it would get over so late. After it was over, I had trouble going to sleep and my dad had trouble staying asleep so I ended up with only about 3 hours sleep last night.

Wednesday is my mom's grocery shopping day, so I will be tied up with my dad until around 10:30 or 11:00 this morning.

The first thing I'm going to do after I get done with "Dad duty" is take a nap!

I have my food already planned out for the day, so I think I can stick with eating healthy even though I'm really tired right now.

I'm determined to continue with my 3 mile a day streak. So after the nap, my plan is to go off to the gym and get the mileage done there because it will be mid-day and hot. I was planning on running as much of the 3 miles as I can today.

So that's the plan....and I'm sticking to it!

Love your commitment! Way to work with what you were given.

Seriously, I'm proud of you. Your commitment after 3 hours of sleep got me to do my workout mid-day today after I went back to sleep this morning. I caught a cold or something and feel like doo-doo, but can't break the streak. Actually, I felt like I had a ton of energy for my workout since I did it after lunch instead of before breakfast. All those carbs I took in did wonders for my workout!

WAY TO GO!

For many years I only got 4 hours sleep. I accepted that fact. I functioned at a fast paced business. After retiring, I talked to doctors who only gave me benedryl or muscle relaxers.

BTW, doesn't your Dad qualify for medicare paid caregivers? If you haven't checked into it, talk to his doctor. It would give you and your Mom a well deserved break.

Sorry to hear that you got so little sleep. I love Gone with the Wind, so I might have done the same thing.

Congrats on having a plan to maintain your streak. You continue to inspire me.

As a night person, this sort of situation would frequently derail me in the past. It is my biggest weakness. Staying up late and then being so tired the next day. I have been working on this. Being retired certainly helps, as I don't have to get up early. But I tend to wake up at roughly the same time every morning, so there are limits how much this compensates. This is definitely what got me in trouble the weeks leading up to my vacation.
