I am beyond backed up on blogs that Iíd like to write. I'm going to start with today's workout and maybe actually write in here--gasp!--more regularly.
Today I ran for the first time in 2 weeks and only the second time since my 5K (a month ago already!!). The first time was an absolute disaster that I wonít even get into. Iíve missed it; despite my drained ipod battery and my ominous feeling I decided that I was running today. Of course, it wasnít until I stepped into the gym locker room that I realized Iíd forgotten not one but both of my knee straps. I didnít care, though. Iíd gotten all dolled up in my moleskin, used my anti-chafe cream, I had my running shoes on and brought my crosstrainers to change into. Somehow or the other, I was going to get through a run even if it was short.
My goal today was anywhere from 1.5 to 2 miles. [I realized during my C25K training that I was pushing myself faster than I was comfortable with. Consistently, I found the last 1-1.5 miles of my runs to be unpleasant. I decided after my 5K ended that from now on, Iím going to run until itís not fun anymore and slowly rebuild to the 3 mi mark.] I did 2.09! My knees bothered me a little but not as bad as Iíd feared. (They hurt now but thatís no shock.) I actually was tempted to go for another 5 mins until common sense made an entrance and warned me that it wasnít a good idea to do too much too soon after taking pretty much a month-long hiatus. So I stopped at the 25 min mark.
Iím looking forward to my next run.
Oh yeah--no blisters today, either!
