Big Surprise - More reason to stay fit

My husband and I recently found out we are expecting. We are super excited! I still want to stay on track with my fit lifestyle. Eating healthy so far has been easy. I feel myself leaning even more towards fruits, vegetables, and other healthy snacks since we found out. I haven't been working out though. I'm honestly not sure what I can do without putting stress on the baby. Any advice? I searched for a good prenatal exercise dvd but was not impressed with anything I found.

    Healthy eating is one of the very best things you can do for your baby. Of course I don't know about adjusting calorie intake - that's a good question for your doc.

    emoticon that's fantastic news emoticon When I was pregnant with my last baby who is now 9 months old I walked 4 to 5 times a week for an hour. I lost a lot of weight and it wasn't at all stressful. Apparently gentle exercise like that is also very good for the baby emoticon

    walking, yoga, swimming, and biking are probably all okay, especially this far out. i know of people who ran through most of the pregnancy, but i think that's only recommended if you have a mileage base before you get pregnant. definitely talk to your doc and check out http://babyfit.sparkpeople.com

    I agree that asking your MD your questions about exercise and activities. I am a mom but the MD is the expert.

    You can continue with any exercise that you may have been doing (walking, running, yoga etc..) Your doc will probably recommend not picking up new activities that you aren't used to. I actually continued to kickbox through both my pregnancies (with a partner holding pads for me). Congrats and best wishes!

    Congrats on the baby! Check with your Dr's office. They might be able to make some good recommendations.
