Not everybody digs what I dig.
Yesterday I did a little ethnic cleansing of my garden...you know, getting rid of plants that have outlived or over lived their purpose. I went a step farther and dug out all the tomatoes, all the liverwort that threatens to overtake my lawn if I am not vigilant, the ferns that have been spreading into the vegetable patch, and the gladiolas that had so much promise if only I had been at home to see them bloom.
I know there is a bulb, root, and uncovered feeler lurking in the ground ready to rear its head and surprise me come spring. But after 15 years of basically having the same plants in the same place it was time to dig out and make ready for new in the spring.
Five hours, a very tired Ruth, but I was digging it!
