This was somewhat like I figured it would be, but she didn't look at my files before recommending some things, like upping my carbs and eating more starchy foods. However, even after she found out I have diabetes she still recommended adding more carbs. She did look at what I wrote down that I have been eating the last couple of weeks, which is in the range of calories that Spark People recommends. She recommends that I raise my minimum to 1400 and do more walking (that hasn't been going on much since I have had a cold for the last month and a half and can't breathe when I am walking, but I will try to do more). Other than that, she just said not to skip meals and gave me some papers and a pedometer. I hope the new one works.
I did go to the Cancer Resource Center to see when the Nutrition classes are going to be there (I think Lisa comes up with more than the hospital dietitians) and got the schedule and the schedule for the Spa days this fall. The next one is a week from today and October's is the day I have my port flush next. They have Reiki, massage, sometimes manicures and different crafts that can be done. It is all for cancer patients, survivors and caretakers and for free. The nutrition classes are to help through cancer treatments and recovery and to keep it at bay after treatments.
