Going Vegan

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

I'm challenging myself to eat 100% vegan for 2 weeks. I started yesterday and it went really well. I've pretty much planned all my meals out for the next 2 weeks to make it easier on myself and I'm actually surprised at how many options there are when giving up all animal products. It should be noted, that I'm not doing this because of any issues I have with eating meat, or with anyone else eating meat, I'm just doing it as a tool to help me achieve healthier eating goals. While I'm only on day 2, I feel pretty good about completing this. Maybe it will put me on the path to a much needed change in my eating habits!

Now for the exersise, that I'm just not doing so well at. I really don't know what the issue is or why I cannot find the necessary motivation to get started. It's funny, because 3 years ago, I would have NEVER missed a day of doing some form of exersise. I actually used to spend 2 hours working out 4 days a week and 60 minutes the other 3 days. Now I'm lucky if I manage an hour a week. I know this is such an important factor is reaching my goals, but there just seems to be some excuse every day to not make it happen. Hopefully today will be different!

Good luck with your vegan diet. It is a great way to go low fat if you don't use the cheese. I have a reward system for my exercise that works great for me! I've increased it through the year from 3 times to 5 times a week. I earn a "prize" for each month I'm on track and have been perfect all year.

Good for you...going vegan to jump start your health. As far as the exercise goes, I would suggest just getting the diet change down FIRST then worry about the exercise. Doing too much change at one time can cause you to slide backwards into old, comfortable and easier habits. Be a bit easier on yourself while you are making this transition and you should do great. Keep up the great work!
