Baby storm Gaston is here

Tuesday, September 07, 2010

Gaston made it to tropical storm status, but never got to hurricane status. He dissipated, then kind of re-formed, then just hung in there as an area of "disturbed weather with the possibility of reorganization."

He's got some wind and a LOT of rain. Been rainy half the day, and predicted to be even rainier tomorrow. That's all we need, another 4 inches of rain on top of the 5 to 8 inches we had with Earl last week.

We're hoping the ground isn't super saturated. Today's rain is washing all the dead leaves down into the roads, making leaf pools. Really, you can't tell how much water is there, the leaves are floating on top. Eventually everything will wash into the soil or sea, and decompose. Right now, it sure looks like autumn.

Well, hopefully you won't get all that rain. Have a good holiday.

Yeah, I slid in leaves in Hurricane Lennie, and tore out my knee - it has never been the same. I'm ultra careful!

Please be careful when you walk outside not to slip on the wet leaves. They can be treacherous
