My husband is a sheriff's deputy, which means every time he goes to work, I worry. (I'm a worrier who is trying to learn not to be this way...) Last night, his car was hit by a drunk driver who was driving WAY fast (80 MPH). The driver is in the hospital because of injuries he sustained during the accident. My husband, fortunately, is safe at home with me.
I'm allowing this incident to remind me to always be grateful for my family. At times, I'm a bit overwhelmed with the stress of making the household function as I think it should. We both work an hour away from where we live (in opposite directions) and every other week, I leave the house at 6:30 to take my stepson to school (also an hour away from where we live). It's kind of a crazy life but I try to stay positive, knowing that I'm working towards the greater goal of having a happy, cohesive, and united family! In this moment, I'm especially grateful for my husband, who risks his life to help others and loves his job because he has the privilege of caring for and helping those in need.
