Welcome Autumn!

Friday, September 03, 2010

Well, it's almost time to start the school year. The year marks my ninth year of teaching and I'm feeling refreshed and looking forward to it. I've got a good workout routine and hope to stay motivated through the fall and long after. I feel good about my weight loss but need to lose 30 more pounds to be considered "normal" vs. "overweight" on the BMI charts. I want to make sure I go forward this season, not backwards.

The first step towards doing this is to work hard this weekend getting stuff done around the house and planning lessons/curriculum for school so I can start the year off on the right foot, instead of feeling stressed out and behind before I've begun. Wish me luck!

Well today so far I've gone to the gym where I jogged for 30 minutes on the treadmill, then did sprints for 10 minutes (30 seconds on and 30 seconds off at a time). Then, I did my 20 pushups on the bar and my 120 crunches on the gym floor. Came home, walked my dogs (1.5 miles). Then, I mowed the lawn and am now cleaning the house. So, I'm off to a good start but there is still so much to do including:

1) sort through my clothes in the closet and put away some spring clothes that I know I won't be wearing

2) try on and bring up fall/winter clothes from the basement bins

3) plan lessons/schedule for school and finish typing notes and info on students

4) develop an exercise plan/routine for the fall (there are new gym classes and such so I need to redo my routine - I also wanted to try jogging on my own outside on certain nights and I need to get back into swimming a couple times per week)

5) develop a nutrtion plan and input calories of foods commonly eaten into fitday or spark so I can attempt to track how many calories I consume as I've never done that yet!

6) personal care including conditioning treatment for hair, exfoliate, and trim nails.

7) pay bills and balance checking account.

UGH... I would prefer it if all this could be done before Tuesday (the first day of school), but we'll see! If I can get a good amount of it done I will feel refreshed and clear headed going into the new school year. It doesn't take long for stress to creep on at the beginning of the school year but having these routine things out of the way will certainly help with this.

I don't know about you guys, but I always feel that there is a never ending list of chores that need to be done from owning a house and two dogs!

I am a teacher too! It certainly is a challenge to set a schedule for yourself where you make time for YOU - fitness and healthy eating the whole year round are SO important!

It is great to see other people here making this a priority and I am looking forward to conquoring the fall without falling into the comfort food trap.... hmmm, I think that will be my next blog topic!

Keep up the good work! Oh, and I love that fall picture on your post!
