I hope I learned my lesson!!!

Friday, September 03, 2010

I woke up feeling great this morning! Took my son to school, came home, took my meds and ate my breakfast. I went to the grocery store and the fruit stand, was excited about the healthy foods I bought. The "dad" usually picks my son up from school but today I had to. The time got away with me and before I knew it, it was time to go. I drank a big glass of water and away I went. I started dinner because today was the day I had to pick up my grandsons from football practice. I was doing laundry and waiting for dinner to cook. I wasn't at all hungry. I sat down in the living room to talk to my mom and I got the biggest cramps in my stomach, I start getting light headed and didn't know how I was going to lose the little food I had eaten today but knew it was lost! I went and sat in the kitchen because I knew I needed food in my system. I was able to eat a little before I got very ill. OMG, it was awful. I knew I needed food in me but had no clue how I was gonna get it. It was a very scary feeling. I know the problem is that my sugar dropped, and dropped low, I don't know how low but LOW LOW. I was able to get some more food in me and within about 30 minutes I was feeling better. No more starving for me, although I didn't feel hungry. I just got busy and didn't think about eating. Just a warning to myself.... I have to eat. I didn't get my Sansone 14 minute walk in but I did walk a little over a mile waiting for my grandsons to finish football practice. Scary for me. :(

OMG. How frightening. I'm so glad you were able to get food into you before it was too late. Low sugar can put you into a coma. Praise God you are OK.

Start keeping quick snack with you where ever you go!
Like Fiber bars, nuts, trail mix...Anything to just eat when you are on the go! Like Aimee said, you should it on a shedule. Even if you have to set a timer to remind you, do it! emoticon emoticon emoticon Every two hours... 3 meals @ about 300 calories, and 3 snacks @ about 100 calories is a good rule thumb.
That is a good plan for everyone, but a lifeline for someone with medicial conditions.
    Blessings,

Glad you're feeling better! Something that might help is eating on a scheudle. That's what I do. I eat on a schedule whether I'm hungry or not. Not only does that insure I get all of my calories in but also makes sure that hunger doesn't overtake my sense of control later...lol. Never get any less than 1200 daily...your body needs that at the very least just to function properly! Take care of you!

Im glad you are feeling better, that must have been a frightening experience.
I always have to remind myself to eat (even when im not busy) I just dont think about it so i tend to forget until dinner time.
I do Sansone dvds as well, I really do enjoy them!

Take care and I wish you a great weekend emoticon
