Does stress cause weight gain or prevent weight loss?

I've just come back from a 2 week all-inclusive holiday/vacation, and for the first time in my life (no kidding), I've not gained a single pound! I'm thrilled of course, but am now trying to analyse why, as I've eaten more (albeit carefully and a lot more veggies because someone else was cooking!), certainly drank more milky coffees than normal and I had a small pudding after lunch and eve meal near enough every day! I swam every day (not that much cardio really tho as pool was busy), did about 3 aqua workouts, managed a 3 mile early morning walk just one day and generally just relaxed, walked around and had fun with my husband and daughters.
In the past, we've always catered for ourselves or part-catered, and I've come back with as much as a 10lb gain over 2 weeks before! Christmas hols usually see at least 6lbs go on as a general rule, even if I'm 'being good'.
I've read about cortisol and it's effects before, and I'm now wondering if the lack of stress has had something to do with it. I did get bored a few times, but I read 3 books and just had plenty of time to rest and recharge my batteries.
I'm so intrigued, that this is the first time I've written a blog, so I hope it's worthwhile.
I'm back on the walking and tracking what I'm eating now I'm home again, and am going to try very hard to remain chilled in the hope that a stressless life might prevail and some weightloss might occur. I lost 10lbs just before I started using SP properly, and haven't budged since then, but have lost inches, so I'm waiting for those scales to move any day now....
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
