Reunions, desks, dogs, sick kids and a pound

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

Our family reunion is on Sunday in Fort Mill, SC. I can't wait to see everyone. There will be lots of temptations on the food table though. My husband's cousin is a chef and he is catering. The food is always delicious. My goal is to control the portions, eat veggies, be active and avoid mayonnaise "salads".

The movers have a furniture repair person scheduled to come to the house on Tuesday. I am praying that this person can repair the roll top. I am leery though. I think we need someone who specializes in ANTIQUES. The desk is 122 years old for Pete's sake.

I am happy to report that the dog is doing better. The vet did think that he picked up the infection at the boarder. That said, she also felt that bulldogs are just more sensitive and apt to catch those things easier than other breeds. I don't think the boarding facility was careless, just that he is the kind of dog that really shouldn't be boarded to begin with. I have no idea what we are going to do next time we travel with family. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Yesterday, my daughter missed school, she was throwing up and had digestive problems. She is doing much better today but it is so hard to see them ill. I am also very, very concerned about her because I was putting her hair in a pony tail and noticed it coming out in fistfuls. I found a bald spot in the back of her head and noticed that the hairline in the back is very, very high. Higher than her earlobe on one side. I didn't let her see my concern and went to another room to cry over it. Alopecia runs in the family and it breaks my heart to think that she may have to deal with this. I set a dermatologist appt for her as soon as I could get her in (9/21). Please pray for her. I am so scared and want to spare her from this.

I want to end on a positive note - I am finally, finally down a pound. I will keep plugging away and hope for continued success on the scale!

Wow, you have a lot going on...thanks for sharing.
First of all, have fun at your family reunion. Ours was in July and I managed not to gain but a pound and lost that the next week. It is hard when you are standing around and everyone is "grazing". I know you can do it though. You do have a great plan.

Congratulations on losing the pound, every bit helps~!~!~

So sorry your pup has a problem being boarded and hope you will have a better solution on your next trip. Glad he/she is doing better.

Sure hope the repair person knows what they are doing working on such an antique.

Will say prayers for your precious daughter and please keep us posted on the dermatologist appt. results.

Hugs to you,
