I have progressed from a beginner's spin class to the Spinning Fitness class. OMG, WHAT A WORKOUT.
The lady that teaches this class is a tri-athlete, distance runner and active duty soldier.(I workout at a gym on Ft Hood, army base) The class is called spinning fitness because it incorporates hand weights, ab work and other cardio, with the spinning. It is 60 minutes of constant high intensity, up-beat, totally motivating torture. It is also the most fun I've had in a workout class in a long time. We ride the bikes for a while, get off and do 1-2 laps around the indoor track, drop and do sit-ups and push-ups, get back on the bikes, ride some more, do upper body exercises with the weights, while riding, ride, ride, do more laps, sit-ups, push-ups or what ever other exercises she thinks of. By the time we start to cool down, after about 55 minutes, I am totally soaked from head to toe. This class is so invigorating. The instructor says the calorie burn is in the 1000-1200 range. I believe it.
