    I'm here Auntie T hahahaha... I'm catching up... FINALLY!!! I will continue to use splenda as well. I think at this time, eliminating every artificial sweetener and attempting a "clean" diet is just too excessive for me. Eliminating other chemicals found in things like diet soda may be a good idea - but a splenda packet here and there isn't going to rot out my insides any worse than the things I have been putting in them the last 6 months by not caring about much... so for me, personally - I am trying to follow as FEW rules as possible. Besides, splenda is everywhere. It's not like when you're on the go, you can stop at Timmy Hobos and say "I'd like my coffee with a light amount of soy milk and agave nectar"... yeah.. splenda, at the very least is somewhat abundant in the chains - and if you must have coffee, have it. The recruiter I had years ago when I was thinking about going in the Navy insisted I use caffeine to boost my metabolism - and if you're not going to get it from diet soda, get it from coffee. Soooooo I'm going to check into those Bob videos soon.... and I have been drinking water like a fish! I really hope we can do this finally!!!!!!!!!!! Missed you!!!!

    I support your decision to get rid of artificial anything! My natural sweeteners are organic maple syrup, raw honey, frozen fruit juice concentrates (apple and orange). I don't do soda any more. If you need some fizz in your life try switching to seltzer with a splash of 100% juice. Maple syrup is not as strong a flavor as honey. Try some in your coffee. I have just recently gotten away from my hefty coffee addiction. I drink water for my wake up. Once you make the decision to treat yourself well, you can do anything! It's all in the deciding. Best of luck. I just enjoyed a couple of past vlogs. Looks like you have a nice team of sparking friends to actually talk to. Keep up the good work. I'll be watching from the print peoples over here.

    OMG...Panera Bread...wahhhh....I used to eat Asiago bagels EVERYDAY!! WIth Asiago cheese spread..haha

    Oh heck, I really dig the STevia. THe Truvia has the maltodextrin (or soemthing like that, chemical and bad)...I get the direct pure Stevia from the health food store, have you tried that? They make one with Fiber also.

    CONGRATS on the no soda, diet soda break!! I read recently that aspartame was originally a CHEMICAL WEAPON!!! EEK!! Nice to 'meet ya'!

    Try Agave, it is not an artificial sweetner. sweeter than sugar by low on the glycemic scale we bought it at Costco came in 2 bottles. looks like honey, tastes milder. Good luck

    OK that last message was not addressing your coffee issue.
    So how much coffee do you drink in a day? Are we talking one cup or 26 cups? or somewhere in between. Are you just loving it or are you having headaches if you try to go without?

    Personally over the years I had to give up coffee because it makes me way too hyper and then I don't sleep. I drink Chai tea with a mix that I make myself. I like the sweet too but I also have to limit the sugar. I like Splenda and I put 3 in my great big cup of chai tea in the morning.

    I gave up carbonated drinks a while back too. I started by having hawaiian punch diet drink. It is not carbonatd and no sugar, eventually I gave that up as well. Now I make myself a 10 cup pitcher of water every night for the next day. I flavor it with one serving of crystal light so it is really weak. Then I add one packet of splenda to about a 10 ounce glass and am now easily able to get my water in. That was a big improvement for me. Before I just never drank water or anything that resembled it until I was so thirsty at bed time. Another reason that I was not sleeping too well. If it is the caffeen you want to get away from what about decafe? If you are like my husband or son that was a way stupid suggestion so forgive me for that. Let me know if you want the chai tea mix recipe. it is really really good. It is the sweetness you are conserned about not the caffeen right? I know this may sound weird but have you tried honey or you know what we just bought and my son says tastes great and I haven't tried it yet but my daughter says that it is healthy, Agave I am going to taste it right now. We bought it at costco is is a syrup 10 calories a serving tastes a little like honey and a little like syrup. no no I was wrong. 60 cal a Tablespoon. I had to put on my glasses It says on the bottle low on the glycemic index. comes from the heart of the agave pland prevents spikes in blood sugar. It is 25 % sweeter than sugar. mild taste is perfect for sweetening beverages. that is all from the lable. I have also seen it at the health food store. It is organic and just for you boy, I am going to try it in decafe coffee with creamer in the morning. have a good day

    Thanks for the video blog. I wish that I could muster up the courage to video blog. I'm not sure what it is, but some of it is shyness, and some of it is lack of privacy and not wanting my husband who is always around to hear me make a fool of myself. If I was as comfortable in front of the camera as you and your mom and you aunt and some of your friends, maybe, but the other thing is it takes an hour to up load or down load or what ever it does. Maybe I am just not young enough to be so techy. Anyway, wanted to say. Hi and good luck. Today is yet another fresh start for lots of us. I know one thing. I will never give up. I may not have all the skills or discipline that I need yet. but I am going to get there by hook or by crook, because I hate, really hate being fat.

    Hey pal! Yes it has been too long! Glad you're back.

    Hope you get back into the swing of things when it comes to working out and/or swimming. Just do it! Consider your butt kicked! Take the plunge (har har)! Shut on the adrenaline! :-)

    I think it's a good thing to minimize the sodas and sweeteners. I can't say I'm the best authority on it though, 'cause I can't really get going without coffee, either. And I often use either a flavored creamer or Equal with it. I figure that if that's one part of my diet where I'll allow some artificial stuff, I'll cut out more bad stuff in other meals of my day and generally it'll work out.

    I don't really like soda in general, but I think some good substitutes are unsweetened iced teas, water with lemon (or lime or other fruit), fruit juices mixed with seltzer, coconut water, etc. I'm also on a big smoothie kick right now, but mostly 'cause it's hott out thurr. Hope this helps!

    LOL I say SHUT ON too!!!!

    I only have one soda a week...but I will give them up too!!!
    I don't use sugar. I don't drink coffee or tea, or kool aid...*laughs* I just realized how boring I am...
    My hubby uses those new tea infusions thing, because they don't have aspartame in them. The lemon one is his favorite.


    I wish I had a camera to vlog, seems so much more fun *S*

    Bob Harper and the biggest loser are coming to Myrtle Beach SC this month for some kind of 5k thing. I'm not exactly sure. I struggle with the artifical sweetners also, and HATE stevia. So if you can come up with anything I will do it with you. I have been searching myself and I haven't found anything. Great to see your VLOG again!!!!

    Since I started eating clean I have cut out all artificial sweetners and yes all! Coffee was the hardest and I am with you stevia is GROSS!! Even truvia has a bad after taste. I ended up just not needing coffee anymore. However, some people do honey, maple syrup or even agave necter. I didn't try any of those so I can't tell you how it tastes. But I do feel so much better not having any artificial foods in my body and the weight has been coming off as well!

    Oh and GET YOUR WORKOUTS IN!!!! (That's me trying to kick your butt!)

    I use Splenda and I will continue to use it lol, cause I used to use sugar, and so the alternative is splenda and I enjoy it. All the other crap in our lives, I can handle this one "downfall" or whatever you want to call it lol..

    Sounds like a great goal!! If you think its too much to try stoping all at once try a limit to one a week!! Then decrease from there!! Idk about something sweet for your coffee thats not a sweetner Honey would probably be gross but guess you could try it!! Vanilla maybe??? its kinda sweet!

    I think the body tastes sweet. How does it know the difference? Even without available calories, the body chemistry will react similarly as it does to sugar. Scientific proof? Only the last time that I ordered a diet coke a good friend said, "Spider, it ain't working".
