August 31, 2010 - Rainy Days and (almost) Mondays?

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Lots o'clouds today, and as you can see, I'm not gonna win the 'Most Frequent Blogger' award on here. emoticon I've been thinking in the past week that getting motivated to resume walking has been my biggest hindrance on either losing more weight, or getting in better shape. Seems all my friends in this area are busy with work and have a busy schedule, so it's hard even just to connect on any regular basis - unless you count a couple/three times a year as 'regular'... emoticon

Finding consistent times and days of the week for walking (plus the varieties of weather outside) is a difficulty (or excuse, I suppose). Can't see paying for a gym membership and dues (and would have to rearrange the rest of the budget to manage that, anyway), and I like walking because no equipment is needed and it can (theoretically) be managed about any place. I'm not looking (in my 60's) to get that magical 'six-pack', and I have enough energy most days for whatever I want to do, so that's not my problem, either.

For me, SparkPeople has been mostly useful in tracking what I've been eating and where my weight is - more of a personal accountability thing. I have two or three long-time friends I stay in touch with, almost all of whom live out of my area, and to a degree, they will remind me when we email (we don't email daily, though). For another, I'm not into Facebook or putting everything about myself out online (partly due to my line of work, and we'll leave it at that).

I'm on vacation this week, so may get the walking going (because I have more time for fitting in the walking). But I also have some major re-organizing/de-cluttering of my apartment that I'd like some progress toward (ongoing goal of mine). And I do also want some fun stuff in my vacation, y'know?

That's most of the big stuff for today from CapeJim.
