feeling down today

Saturday, August 28, 2010

I just got back from taking my baby girl to college for the second year away from home. I know she is close enough to get to if she needs help. I guess it's just the quietness of home again that brings me down.

Also, I'm bored with my choices of food lately and feel like if I look at another protein shake, I'll just puke. I'm also tired from my trip today...12 hours on the road.

I guess I just need to get some rest and rethink my food choices tomorrow. Actually, I think I will re-read what I can have now and make a new shopping list for tomorrow.

I love Hungry girl too. She has the most amazing ways to make things taste good. Have not had surgery yet but still trying to lose weight.

Sorry abut your daughter. My girls got married 10 and 11 years ago and it was hard. Get some rest and maybe things will look brighter tomorrow. emoticon emoticon

Sorry your "baby girl" has also "flown the coop"..... I mean left the nest. I haven't gone through that yet.

Have you looked into the HUNGRY GIRL recipes? I get update from email but also purchased 1 of her cookbooks. "The easiest, most delicious, Guilt-free recipes on the planet." I have only tried a few from the cookbook but plan on trying more. What else she gave me were ideas to use with my own things I can eat.

One example I used some of her ideas (microwave recipes) and made lasagna in a mug.

I took some pasta sauce and added some unflavored protein. Then layered a little sauce, then low-fat ricotta cheese, zucchini, sauce, ricotta, sauce and topped it with a little mozzarella. Microwaved it. Enjoyed it!

I too was getting bored with the minimal choices I had in my my kitchen. I bought some meatless pepperoni and made a mini pizza from the little deli flats (small bread circles) with the sauce (added protein) and some mozzarella. I cannot do anything greasy at all. So I purchased, but haven’t tried a few other “meatless” items. I am pretty sure as long as they are mixed with something (I have hot dogs that some ketchup and mustard should help disguise the flavor, and meatballs that I will add sauce to).

I hope this helps with your food choices.

That happen. You need some rest. The empty nest , it's tough .But she's not far away.
My daughter is sending first son off in a week. Collage only 35 miles or so away, but you would think it's thousands. But I keep saying as mom's we all have gone through it.
You need to mix up your foods, boredom will set in and you might not be eating enough of the right foods. Just make sure to get enough protein.
