hi everybody,i must say it is really great to be back, you donīt know how much i have missed you all and how glad i am to be back which was nearly not the case.my op which was seduled for two and a half hours turned into to a eleven and a half op with many surprises for the surgeon.like i said and the dr said i am one lucky girl to still be here.here is the run down of the op.
on thursday the 12th went into hospital.they took blood, had to go and do an ecg and then go for x,rays.settled into hospital room.friday got preped and rolled down into op theater 7.30 op start.then surgeon was only suppose to be touching the skin and not going to open up the stomach wall at all but when they open up the skin so that the build up of excess water could be removed the discovered two big lumps under the stomach wall so they had to open it up to check what was there.underneath they found a hernia the size of a kilo bag of sugar which they removed and also a part of the bowel which was in the wrong place and nearly seperated from the rest of the bowel.the dr said to me afterwards it was amazing that i awas alive and very lucky that i havenīt died in the last 20 months as he reckond this must have happened in the last op.he also said he couldnīt imagine what pain i had been in(so much for the inflammed fat tissue as the other dr said it was(see old blog)so he then had to do an operation on the bowel putting the part back where it belonged and joining it fully to the rest of the bowel in doing that they noticed that the stomach itself had been damaged(that also had probably happened inthe last op 20 months earlier.)so he had to operate on that.when he had finished he then had to repair all the stomach wall as it was so badly damaged and put at net all around it to help secure it in place.i also during all this had breathing problems and had to be resusitated.so all in all the op took alot longer than planed and turned out to be more than one op.but to live up to my name ever-hopeful on the good side as he was doing all that to the stomach he decided to do a tummy tuck(not planned as it means i canīt lift up my son for ages but i wouldnīt have been able to anyway with the bowel op etc)so he got rid of my loose skin and also reset my belly button an operation that i would normally have to pay a fortune for but got for free.having said that i still have a lot of weight to lose still but at least the skin wont look as bad as it would have done with out the tummy tuck.that was why i had to stay in hospital over a week longer than planned.i was also on oxygen for 6 days and nights after the op because of the breathing problems.it will also mean i canīt do alot of the things i need to do round the house and i also canīt exercise for a while.but just think when i can with how much more energy i will be able to do it with when i no longer have all the pain that i used to have.the dr have forbidden me from doing ramadam this year but at least as of tomorrow i can at least start losing weight again even if it will be abit slower without the exercise.so all in all i am one extreamly lucky person to be alive at all and though i still have pain from the op it is no where near the pain i was in before so much so that i didnīt once need pain killers after the op and that bit of pain i have is good as it reminds me not to over do things.oh and by the way did i tell you how great it is to be back.thanks everyone for your support i couldnīt have got this far without all your support, understanding, love and frienship you are the best.you can do this i can do this we can do this.
