New 'mobile web' version of SparkPeople launched - points, water, and more!

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Hi everyone

This week we launched some pretty big enhancements to mobile.sparkpeople.com, our "mobile web" version of SparkPeople. By mobile web we mean pages of our site enhanced to work well on mobile phones equipped with internet browsers. Keep in mind we also have Applications available on iPhone/Android/Blackberry, but now people with other brands of phones - Palm, Windows, Samsung, Nokia, etc - can use SparkPeople on the go even more effectively.

We've had a basic mobile web available for some time where you could track food and cardio exercise. With our new launch you can also now:
- Spin the SparkPoints Wheel, plus see your Points totals.
- Track water
- Track weight
- Do some more advanced food and fitness tracking tasks, such as manually adding a food and deleting tracked foods and exercises
- Enjoy an improved design and user interface

If you have a smartphone and haven't tried our mobile web or mobile applications yet, we really recommend you give them a try. Members are telling us that tracking on the go keeps them even more motivated, plus if you are out to eat you can search for the best foods to order.

To access our mobile web you can enter mobile.sparkpeople.com into the web address on your phone. Please comment below if you have any questions or issues. Thanks!

I LOVED the Blackberry App for my curve...but I had to upgrade to the Torch 9800....and alas, there is no app for it. Any apps coming soon? Would love to see that happen...I am jumping back on Sparkpeople with the Personal Trainer Sessions my wife gave me for Christmas to jump start me back on a plan. Sparkpeople is the BEST support I have ever used, and I really need it on my phone! Help!!!

First of all, I want to say thank you to SP!!! I cannot remember we met, but I am so THANKFUL we did!!!!!!!!!!
I have the app on my Samsung Vibrant. I like the app, buuutttt I still use another app that automatically tracks my exercise and then (if I remember or have time) I manually enter the stats into my SP account emoticon ... I would be awesome if an exercise tracking app could be combined into spark people. When I was a "crackberry user" there was an awesome free app that used GPS to map the route, speed, distance, and calories burned. Loved it even though I could not connect inside my building for the times I walked the stairwell (16 floors). The app I am currently using can track with or without GPS.
Just a thought. Thank you for this site!! emoticon

I have an iPhone. I've downloaded the Diet and Food Tracker to my phone but I notice it doesn't sync up with the website. So, is there a way to make these connect? I usually use the website during the day, while I'm at work. But I don't have internet access at home, so I use my iPhone when I need to connect. I can access the website via Safari but it would be so much quicker and simpler if changes made within the ap would automatically update to my page on the website. Is this possible?

Thanks.

I have used the sparkpeople tracker with my blackberry. It has been great. However, about a week ago it wouldn't pull up my food log. I didn't know why. So I thought I would un-install it and try again. When I tried to install again it indicated that the application was not available in my country. I am currently living in China. However, the first time I put it on my blackberry it installed just fine. Any suggestions?

awesome! I've never used this site before, but I just checked it out... I've been using the sparkapp and LOVE it. But what I don't like about the app 1) When entering new foods, it wont allow me to enter in the vitamins, so when having something new (like tonight, we had a new ice cream for dessert) I had to take the ice cream to my computer so I could enter it - I like to enter the entire nutrition label. And I just saw that with this site, I CAN do that.
And 2) I can't spin the wheel on the app.

Hopefully soon ya'll will add these features to the app as well. But in the meantime, I'm happy to see that I can use the mobile.sparkpeople.com to now be able to do those 2 things.

Thanks!

I love the new mobile website but wish that on Today's food it showed the total calories, fat, carbs and proteins you've had for the day and not just your ranges.

I've been using the mobile web, not realizing there were applications for my BB that I could download. So I downloaded it this past weekend. I am finding things I like with both programs, but things I don't. The thing I've noticed so far about the application is it seems to be slower to add things I post, and it freezes my phone--or maybe it's just taking so long to finish posting. The jury is still out. Will keep comparing.

Suggestion: I track my steps because I read an article that talks about people doing more daily activity when they track steps instead of just exercise, say 30 min. This is definitely true. I would LOVE if the mobile program(s) would allow us to track steps, along with aerobics.

I just got an I-touch and downloaded the application. It is nice, but I have trouble entering food. It will let me search for food, but won't let me enter it into my food tracker. Frustrating. emoticon

I just tried it out to add my breakfast to my tracker. Not real fast on my phone but it's great to have for those times when I'm not near my computer. I have a smartphone but it's not one of those fancy ones. It's an LGenv3.

I love my android phone and just downloaded the food tracker from the market. Can't wait to try this and the mobile website! Any chance there is a fitness tracker (possibly with map tracking like RunStar) on the way? I LOVE RunStar but would rather have it report straight into my SparkPeople Fitness Tracker.

Thanks Sparkpeople!

wow! the new mobile site is really awesome. I love the changes. The ability to delete food items is an welcome addition. The only thing I would add would be to show your calorie totals when you get the 'successfully added xxx' to your log. This would help me see my progress throughout the day without having to go to another screen.

OMG! How wonderful! I have been struggling with my Omnia phone and the Windows OS using just Internet Explorer...but doing it. I just went to the mobile site and was amazed! Thank you! Hopefully you will have broad based apps instead of apps for special phones like the iphone and Droid. I love having the restaurant look up available.
