"Lets start at the very Beginning--a very good place to start" goes the opening line of "Do Re Mi" from "The Sound of Music"----I'm going to follow that advice!!!Rewinding to last Sunday--Sayali had sent a Gift for Babu from London with her friend Cleona-----and asked if Pradeep could drive Cleona from the International Airport at Sahar to the domestic Airport at Santa Cruz 'coz she was to catch a flight to Goa that afternoon ----on the 15th.Cleona would give Babu's gift to Pradeep on the way.
We'd just finished eating Lunch and were waiting for Pradeep to arrive with the gift after he dropped off Cleona on the way. While Sudhir was napping in the Bedroom and Ritu and I were chatting in the Living Room. The Doorbell rang and Vanita opened the door----and announced a Visitor---her face all red in excitement-----we weren't expecting anyone at that odd hour of late afternoon. As I glanced inquiringly at her, there was the Sallaalee Sallallum standing just inside the Front Door---both Ritu and I just couldn't stop screaming!!!All this commotion woke Sudhir up---thoroughly bewildered and alarmed at all the noise!!!It took all three of us to calm him down with Sayali uttering a classic sentence---"It's okay Dad--it's just me from London----thought I'd give you a surprise!!!"
Thus began a whirlwind 5 days--with Sayali trying to cram all her favourite activities into them---visiting Aunts and Uncles on both sides, meeting up with School Friends, cramming as many favourite Foods into her digestive system without causing herself any discomfort AND Shopping for Stuff all over Town!!!It began pouring down in the early evening of 15th.August and wouldn't let up at all throughout the entire period of her stay---she just hates Rain!!!Despite that we all had a great time-----roaming the length and breadth of Mumbai---as usual her Camera suffered from Diarrhoea---it must have clicked more than 150 Pictures of all her favourite haunts--various Hotels included!!!
The days just flew past and finally Sayali too flew away last afternoon---but left behind a thoroughly tired but refreshed pair of Parents---who're again just realising once again that Spring Chickens we ain't---I only wish she'd stayed a little longer---but no matter---it was a WONDERFUL Surprise!!
