Just as I thought...up 3 pounds.

After visiting a friend for a few days, and all the food and a few Margarita's and beers thrown in here and there emoticonI weighed in today and I am up 3 pounds! Same thing happened after visiting my aunt and uncle a few weeks back. I guess we can't just sit there and discuss our diet while our hosts and hostesses bring out their carefully chosen meals and snacks now can we???
I'm thinking that this is probably normal and something that will happen from time to time. My job is to immediately get back on track after the fact so that I don't slide into a permanent celebration habit with food! This has been so difficult for me, as I've been away off and on for much of the summer. emoticon I'm not complaining, believe me! It was much easier when I was on vacation for a week and going to restaurants...because I was making my own choices of food. When you are a guest at someones home...things are a little different. And I must say, my friend was sensitive to the fact that my husband and I had lost weight and are still in the process of losing...she had some good healthy meals. We just ate MORE! Why is that? That's something I intend to work on so that I can be ready next time. For now...I have to refocus and get back on track!!!

    Sandy, you will drop this weight in no time. It is just a hump.
"Just keep swimming" right on over that hump and back to your routine.

    You will be just fine because you are determined! I do that all the time even when not going to a friend's house. I will do well for 3 days and off for 4. You are much more focused that me so I have no doubt that you will be back on tract with lose by next weekend!

    You are correct! Refocus and get back on track. I agree with SoLucky. Don't beat yourself up over it. That never works.

Yep!! Pick yourself up and Keep going!! Glad you enjoyed visiting your friend. We just need to learn to enjoy the company and not the food.

    I was up about 3 pounds one week, and with some exercise and sticking to my food plan, it came down the 3 pounds in a week. So I know you can do it.

My problem is I've been doing that too long. One morning I briefly saw 165.5 pounds for the first time in years, but that hasn't returned. I just try to remember how long it seemed to fluctuate around 174 and know it will come in time. I know if I really stuck to my guns like I used to, it would come off, but life happens and I'm not going to punish myself by restricting so much that I can't stay on it.

I think I'm learning more about maintenance now along the way, so that if it takes longer to lose, I'll be used to how to keep it off. It's so easy to let up when I lose a pound, then it just comes back on. emoticon Ann

    Eating while socializing is similar to mindlessly eating while watching television. What works for me is to actively mingle. Get involved in any activities that are going on while I am there. Drink lots of water and always put the veggies on my plate first! I eat a whole plate of salad before I even sample the devilish goods. Then, I take a tablespoon sized amount of each yummy food. That way the total of all of them add up to one normal serving. It works for me.

Do not sit near or huddle near the food!

3 pounds will be gone in no time. No worries. Just pick yourself up and keep going. emoticon
