I thought I was busy before!

Friday, August 20, 2010

Hello Everyone. It's been a long time since I put up a blog post, and I have missed it! Progress has been achingly slow, but at least there has been some!

The recession has clobbered our piano teaching business, which is our only income. Until the last year or so, it has always been enough. Not any longer. It's been a struggle.

The upshot of it all is that I am back in college. Yes, at this age! It's odd to be the "Grandma" in a classroom!

I decided a few months ago to look into returning to college. At first I was angry...so angry! I was angry at the necessity of it. And also, looking at age 60 really soon, I didn't want to think about "starting over".

But, I've calmed down a bit. I'm enjoying school, as I always have. It's interesting to be around the young people.

I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that it will be interesting!

I think it's cool that you are back in college. I hope you find a good major.

I'm sorry that the piano teaching is off--sorry both for you and for the young people who won't get the benefit of learning. It is hard to start old (I just started a new career at 57.), but it's a lot of fun, too. So enjoy, and let us know what you are doing.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having some rough times, but happy that you are stil making progress. What a brave decision to return to school. I will be 61 in Dec. and have been thinking about changing careers but have been letting my keep me from even considering it. You are giving me inspiration. I recently just completed a certification course in Plant-Based Nutrition and that is my passion, I would love to do something with that but don't know what at this point. You have given me the "spark" to check maybe the jr college for some other kind of nutrition classes. Best wishes continuing on your journey. What kind of classes are you taking?
