Most health improvement programs talk about "Maintenance" at the end of the journey. I can remember many times when I wondered if I would ever get to Maintenance. I am not sure I knew what I would do when I got there, but it seemed like it was the ultimate goal.
As I started with SparkPeople, I thought I would lose consistently week after week and when I didn't, I was disappointed. I was cutting back on calories and starting to exercise...The good news was: I wasn't gaining and I actually learned what Maintenance is first, for me..... By tracking my exercise and food I found out what maintained my weight and what it takes to lose. That doesn't mean it is any easier to lose, but this knowledge really helps.
So now when I am living my health improvement journey, I can say I have made it to Maintenance and my choices will determine whether I will stay there or accomplish my weight loss goals...I have a greater understanding about the gain/loss balance and all because I made it to Maintenance first...Thanks SparkPeople.
