Help Me Exercise Myself Into The 2's

Monday, August 16, 2010

I'm gearing up for the Fall Biggest Loser Challenge !! I am a proud member of the Sapphire Stars !!! We will shine bright throughout this challenge.

As I do a self inventory and prepare for the challenge my biggest area of improvement is Exercise.

Being honest I really hate exercising.

I own the following equipment:

Treadmill
Stationary Bike
Wii Fit, several games
Neighborhood with sidewalks (lol)

I really need help getting a set plan in place. I know my weight loss could be so much more if I would stick with the exercise. I do good for a few weeks then I don't do anything.

This challenge I am not going to use work, my back issues or anything else I can think up as an excuse! I am determined to get into the 2's during this challenge.

Here's where my wonderful Spark friends can help, please send me any and all your exercise tips.

Hey beautiful! You know that I blog out my schedule ahead of time (I haven't done it for two weeks but it worked all summer). I can edit the blog if I need to, but I tend to go ahead and do it.

Another thing I do with myself is the 5 minute deal. When I don't feel like doing what's on the schedule, I tell myself I will do it for five minutes. Usually, once I get going it feels good and I keep going for at least 30 minutes but I do give myself permission to stop if I want to.

You're going to break those 2's wide open during this challenge. I just know it.

Do you play music when you are on the treadmill? I usually play my Disco CD or something with a good beat. I have my water bottle and telephone nearby. I hate it when someone calls, but that happens a lot. I always stop the treadmill and answer it.

I also turn on the TV and mute it. I like the weather channel, and travel channel. Anything with scenery. I have been watching MADE in America. John Ratzenburger is the host and he travels around the country and tours different factories. Sometimes i actually listen to a show if it is interesting. I love Samantha Brown. I am a big virtual traveler. LOL

I started out slowly and gradually worked my way up in pace, distance and minutes. I don't use the incline due to my vertigo. I don't run on it because of my balance and coordination issues. I can trip over air!

    i have a few tips
- for getting back on track i start small and work my way up, and by small i mean five minutes counts- i really believe that getting back on track requires a day or two of showing up.

- for staying on track you need to hook it onto something else in your routine - example: i drop off the kids and go strait to the gym. it works cause i'm already in the car, bag is always in the car, i just have to point the steering wheel in that direction.

-give yourself a dessert for exercising: nice stretching, great cool down music, meditating (you don't seem the type for that lol) or a shower with special soaps.

Here is what Notaboutheface does and I found it to be a good idea!
Get a calendar of September and WRITE on it as many days as you want to per week WHAT specifically you WILL do on those days! Plan ahead...so you can account for on the road days or busy work days. You can also plan around the ITC's in advance this way.
Then buy yourself some fun stickers and every day you do what you needed to do, you give youself a sticker.
On non-expercise days, you can put other goals like "take a nap" or "spend 20 minutes relaxing" or whatever...and reward yourself when you do the activities.
I hang these on my fridge and they really Do help me...when I am home to actually SEE them ! (LOL)
