Tomorrow morning we plan to drive to Staten Island to drop off my husband's viola d'Amore which needs varnish work. This type of work takes time so that the varnish can harden and dry. Since we will be leaving for our trip to the British Isles on 9/29 and not returning until the end of September, this is a perfect time to drop off the instrument. My husband plays the viola every day, so he will be happy to get it back when we return from our trip. I suppose we will nave to drive back to Staten Island again to pick it up at that time. The trip from Vt. to Staten Island is much shorter than it would be from Rochester, NY. I would prefer to remain in Vermont, but he really wants me to go with him to help navigate. Neither of us is looking forward to the NYC. area traffic! We hope to get back to Vt. in time to catch the "Early Bird" dinner at the Sirloin Saloon in Rutland. On Tuesday morning we will drive back to Rochester. We won't be able to come back to Vermont until October.
