Gloomy weather can be peaceful, slows us down a bit and provides some much-needed rest. But when continuing for an extended period of time, it can negatively impact our dietetic choices if we're not careful. There's something comforting to being inside with those we love on a rainy day, and those old feelings of "I know what let's do - let's make ___!" (Fill in the blank with your own favorite comfort food.) can be powerful distractions. And lo and behold, before you know it, you're all sitting around the kitchen table or in front of the television overindulging, just like you did with your parents when you were a kid.
An excellent way to begin a dreary day is to log on to SparkPeople as soon as possible, visit all your favorite spots, and gather enough motivation to see you through the day. Focus on a favorite "good for you" food, and treat yourself.
