Refocusing and my size twelves!

Friday, August 13, 2010

So I had a 'setback' for a few months because of traveling for work, vacations, etc but I am proud to say that even during that time, I did not gain any weight. I was not losing much weight nor going to the gym for 2 months but I did not gain weight. I am at least proud of that!

I got refocused again about a month ago and even started a 8 week weight loss competition with my friends to help spur me on. I started going to the gym again (picking up on the Couch to 5K program) and really focusing on my overall health. I have started losing weight again but it's for sure been slower. I guess it really is harder to get rid of that last 20 pounds! I am in the middle of week 5 of my training and the first dreaded 20 minute run is coming up for me on Sunday. I am nervous but confident that I can now do anything I put my heart and soul in.

I still can't believe some days that I have a bit less than 20 pounds to get to my 'goal' weight. I hope when I get there it's what I want but if not, I know I have the tools to get to the next goal weight I set for myself.

I went to the thrift store today to get some new clothes because I only had two pairs of jeans that fit and I have found that it's really important to me now to wear clothes that actually fit so I am not drowning in my old clothes and looking frumpy. I put a few size 14 jeans in my cart and then saw a pair of size 12 jeans that I liked so I figured I would try them on to see how close I am. I never IMAGINED getting into a size 12 with 20 pounds left to lose. Well, I did it!! I walked out of the thrift store with 2 size 12 skirts, 2 size 12 pairs of jeans, a large dress, and 2 large tops. I did also get one pair of size 14 jeans because they fit well but I also look forward to the day I get to retire them! I did try on a pair or two of other brand size 12 jeans that were too small but I could at least zip them up. I can't tell you how estactic I was. I seriously got tears in my eyes to buy size 12 jeans again. I have no idea when the last time I was able to buy size 12 but I will never forget the trip today for my size twelves!
