Thankful on Thursday!

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Yesterday my dad fell on the oven door - the oven had been heated to 375 to bake a pizza.

He skinned the underside of his forearm from wrist to elbow in a strip about 1" wide.

Why am I thankful? Because he didn't get burned. The damage is bad enough due to the location of the boo-boo; he leans on his arm all the time and the bleeding continues. But I have learned how to bandage this type scrape using "petroleum gauze" and home health-care is coming tomorrow and might give additional insight of what to do.

Also, we have a fantastic local health clinic that will take him on a walk-in basis anytime.

Your prayers are most welcome for the bleeding to stop. He is on plavix and low-dose aspirin due to heart problems.

Thank you! emoticon

So sorry to hear about your Dad Linda and hope that he is on the mend.

He is fortunate to have you around to attend to emergencies like this. It sounds as if you have developed the skills to respond well to his specific needs - as well as providing loving care.

Love to you and yours.

OUCH! I certainly will keep your dad in my prayers. I am also grateful it was not more serious than it is. Maybe they can pad the bandage so he won't be constantly irritating himself.

Hugs,
Marty

Give my best to Dad! Those types of wounds are so painful. Being an easy bleeder and not on medication, I can relate to wanting it to stop. I'll be praying for all of you. HUGS!

I agree that it was so fortunate that he didn't get burned. That could have been much worse! Aren't walk-in clinics great for things like that?

Glad that it wasn't too serious. He could have gotten burned. Very scary! I'm sure the visiting nurse will fix him up and have some ideas.
Thinking of you!

I hope for the best for your dad. I know how hard it is to get bleeding stopped in a person who is taking just aspirin so with the Plavix, hmmmm. Keep a close eye on him and be sure he knows to call you if he needs you. Prayers for your father are ongoing, my friend.
